Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Nitric Oxide and Small and Intermediate Calcium-Activated Potassium Channels Mediate the Vasodilation Induced by Apigenin in the Resistance Vessels of Hypertensive Rats

open access: yesMolecules
Background: Apigenin (4′,5,7-trihydroxyflavone), a flavonoid with potential cardiovascular benefits, has unclear mechanisms of action. This study investigates its effects on vascular function in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (SHRs). Methods: Mesenteric

Mechanism of resveratrol-induced relaxation in the human gallbladder

open access: yesBMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2017
Background Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound extracted from plants and is also a constituent of red wine. Resveratrol produces relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and may prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Postoperative atrial fibrillation in paraesophageal hernia repair: can it be prevented?

open access: yesPerioperative Medicine, 2021
Acute ischemic thromboembolic stroke is one of the most feared complications of atrial fibrillation (AF), and the risk increases with higher CHA2DS2-VASc scores.

Calcium-Related Genes Predicting Outcomes and Serving as Therapeutic Targets in Endometrial Cancer

open access: yesCells, 2022
Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecologic cancer with increasing incidence. The dysregulation of intracellular calcium plays a crucial role in cancer progression.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Calcium-channel blockers and anaesthesia [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Anaesthesia, 1991
Verapamil was the first calcium-channel blocker (CCB). It has been used since 1962 in Europe then in Japan for its antiarrhythmic and coronary vasodilator effects. The CCB have become prominent cardiovascular drugs during the last 15 years. Many experimental and clinical studies have defined their mechanism of action, the effects of new drugs in this ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

COMBINED ANTIHYPERTENSIVE THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION AFTER THE STROKE

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2016
Aim. To evaluate influence of the combined therapy with ACE inhibitor (perindopril), diuretic (indapamide) and dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (amlodipine) on ambulatory blood pressure (BP) monitoring indices and heart rate variability in ...

Calcium channel blockers‐are they diuretics? [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1985
Seven untreated patients with essential hypertension but without target organ damage were admitted to hospital. Urine was collected the following day from 08.00 to 13.00 h, 13.00 to 18.00 h, and 18.00 to 08.00 h. The protocol was repeated the next day following 30 mg oral nicardipine.
