IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Calcium phosphate formation from sea urchin - (brissus latecarinatus) via modified mechano-chemical (ultrasonic) conversion method

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2013
This study aims to produce apatite structures, such as hydroxyapatite (HA) and fluorapatite (FA), from precursor calcium phosphates of biological origin, namely from sea urchin, with mechano-chemical stirring and hot-plating conversion method.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Change of a phosphatic condition of soils at application of high doses of organic fertilizers

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Agronomy and Animal Industries, 2011
It was established, that entering of high doses of manures into various types of soils leads to increase of maintenance and mobility of phosphates in soils. The effect of influence of high doses of manures on mobility of phosphates in soils is defined by

Design of composites Na+, Mg2+, BO33−-containing calcium phosphates with ZrO2: microhardness and antibacterial activity

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
Calcium phosphates modified with trace elements (sodium, magnesium) and borate-anions as well as composites based on them with different amount of ZrO _2 (5, 10 or 25wt%) were synthesized from aqueous solution with further heating to 600 °C.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Phosphorus removal in passive treatment technologies for tertiary wastewater treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The treatment of phosphorus at small sewage works requires alternative approaches to the traditional chemical precipitation and biological removal pathways, as such approaches do not align well to the requirements at such a scale in relation to the use

Optimization of struvite precipitation in synthetic biologically treated swine wastewater - Determination of the optimal process parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A sustainable way to recover phosphorus (P) in swine wastewater involves a preliminary step of P dissolution followed by the separation of particulate organic matter.
