Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Fosfatos de cálcio de interesse biológico: importância como biomateriais, propriedades e métodos de obtenção de recobrimentos Calcium phosphates of biological interest: importance as biomaterials, properties and methods for coatings obtaining

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2010
For decades the Hydroxyapatite (HA) was only bioceramic of calcium phosphate system used for bone replacement and regeneration, due to its similarity to the mineral phase of bones and teeth.

Self-assembly of a columnar polymeric calcium phosphinate derived from camphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
(2,2-Dimethylbicyclo[2.2.1] hept-3-ylmethyl)phosphinic acid (RPO₂H₂), readily prepared from camphene and hypophosphorous acid, formed a polymeric calcium salt [{Ca(RPO₂H) ₂ (RPO₂H₂)(H₂O)}n], with both terminal and triply bridging phosphinate groups, and ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Physical and chemical properties of cement based on calcium phosphate suspensions [PDF]

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов, 2017
The effect of phase composition, concentration of calcium phosphates suspensions and polymer binder on the physicochemical properties of calcium phosphate cements is found. It has been established that the introduction of monetite and polymers (polyvinyl

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Immobilization of cesium from aqueous solution using nanoparticles of synthetic calcium phosphates

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2018
The particularities of cesium incorporation into synthetic calcium phosphates with either apatite or whitlockite-type structures were investigated using the sorption process from aqueous solution and further heating to 700 °C.

Removal and Reuse of Phosphorus as a Fertilizer from CAFO Runoff [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Eutrophication is the process in which nutrient saturated waters promote algal blooms on the surface of the water. This limits the amount of dissolved oxygen content in the water, effectively limiting the range of species that can survive in a body of ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
