CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Determination of obstacles in Stokes flow by boundary measurement

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
We study the determination of some obstacles in a Stokes flow domain with overdetermined boundary data. We use a method based on the topological sensitivity technique associated to the reciprocity gap function concept. We develop an asymptotic formula

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

The calculus of variations and optimization methods

open access: yes, 1973
Includes bibliographical references (page 53)The calculus of variations is a branch of mathematics concerning the problems of finding maximum and minimum values of an integral. Examples of basic problems discussed in this area are: The problem of finding

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

An introduction to the calculus of variations

open access: yes, 1960
The development of the theory of the calculus of variations has from the beginning been closely connected with that of the differential and integral calculus.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

On the inequality of weierstrass for nonlocal functionals

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2001
The aim of this paper is to consider the problem of extremum of the nonlocal functional, which depends on a function and its derivative with respect to at several values of .

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Calculus of variations on time scales

open access: yes, 2008
. We introduce a version of the calculus of variations on time scales, which includes as special cases the classical calculus of variations and the discrete calculus of variations.
