AdS calibrations

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1999
We present a new bound for the worldvolume actions of branes with a Wess-Zumino term. For this we introduce a generalization of calibrations for which the calibration form is not closed. We then apply our construction to find the M-5-brane worldvolume solitons in an AdS background that saturate this bound.

Calibration of sound calibrators: an overview [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2016
This paper presents an overview of calibration of sound calibrators. Initially, traditional calibration methods are presented. Following, the international standard IEC 60942 is discussed emphasizing parameters, target measurement uncertainty and criteria for conformance to the requirements of the standard.

Computer model calibration with large non-stationary spatial outputs: application to the calibration of a climate model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Bayesian calibration of computer models tunes unknown input parameters by comparing outputs with observations. For model outputs that are distributed over space, this becomes computationally expensive because of the output size.

Accurate Automation of Deadweight Force Standard Machine Based on Artificial Intelligent Model at NMCC-SASO-KSA [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Accurate force measurements are critical in a various fields including metrology, material testing, and quality control. In this study, we propose an automated process for precise force measurements using Dead weight standard machines up to 1kN.

Geometric calibration of Colour and Stereo Surface Imaging System of ESA's Trace Gas Orbiter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
There are many geometric calibration methods for "standard" cameras. These methods, however, cannot be used for the calibration of telescopes with large focal lengths and complex off-axis optics.

Quasi-continuous time-stretched photon Doppler velocimetry

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
In transient high-speed scenes such as chemical explosions, magnetic compression, electric explosion, and laser-driven flyer, the target object can accelerate from 0 to tens of km/s in a few nanoseconds. The time-stretched photon Doppler velocimetry uses

Calibrations and spinors [PDF]

open access: yesActa Mathematica, 1993
The second author and \textit{H. B. Lawson jun.} [ibid. 148, 47-157 (1982; Zbl 0584.53021)] inaugurated the study of calibrations and explained their importance to differential geometry. In the paper under review, a general procedure is described for constructing calibrations with constant coefficients on \(R^{8m}\) by squaring spinors.

In-situ Broadband Cryogenic Calibration for Two-port Superconducting Microwave Resonators

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce an improved microwave calibration method for use in a cryogenic environment, based on a traditional three-standard calibration, the Thru-Reflect-Line (TRL) calibration.
