Farm-Scale Tradeoffs Between Legume Use as Forage versus Green Manure: The Case ofCanavalia brasiliensis

open access: yesAgroecology and Sustainable Food Systems, 2013
To support a sustainable increase in agricultural productivity, the multipurpose legume Canavalia brasiliensis was integrated as forage and green manure into the smallholder crop-livestock system of the Nicaraguan hillsides. Through on-farm trials, surveys, and on-station experiments, we investigated the biophysical and socioeconomic tradeoffs in ...

Evaluation of lectin extracted from Canavalia brasiliensis on the neuropsychomotor system of murine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Engineering Research, 2018
Introduction: Lectins are a class of proteins extracted from the seeds of Canavalia brasiliensis (Lectin ConBr). Its anti-neoplastic activity has been studied in experimental models. Aim: To evaluate the neuropsychomotor effect of Lectin ConBr in vivo in murine.

Xc- System as a Possible Target for ConBr Lectin Interaction in Glioma Cells

open access: yesNeuroglia
Studies have revealed the dependence of glioma cells on iron, making them sensitive to ferroptosis. Ferroptosis can be triggered by inhibition of the xc- system, resulting in redox imbalance and membrane lipid peroxidation.

Towards an assessment of on-farm niches for improved forages in Sud-Kivu, DR Congo

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2016
Inadequate quantity and quality of livestock feed is a persistent constraint to productivity for mixed crop-livestock farming in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. To assess on-farm niches of improved forages, demonstration trials and participatory on-
