Establishment of a heterologous system for the expression of Canavalia brasiliensis lectin: a model for the study of protein splicing.

open access: yesGenetics and molecular research : GMR, 2006
During its biosynthesis in developing Canavalia brasiliensis seeds, the lectin ConBr undergoes a form of protein splicing in which the order of the N- and C-domains of the protein is reversed. To investigate whether these events can occur in other eukaryotic organisms, an expression system based on Pichia pastoris cells was established.

Xc- System as a Possible Target for ConBr Lectin Interaction in Glioma Cells

open access: yesNeuroglia
Studies have revealed the dependence of glioma cells on iron, making them sensitive to ferroptosis. Ferroptosis can be triggered by inhibition of the xc- system, resulting in redox imbalance and membrane lipid peroxidation.

Towards an assessment of on-farm niches for improved forages in Sud-Kivu, DR Congo

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2016
Inadequate quantity and quality of livestock feed is a persistent constraint to productivity for mixed crop-livestock farming in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. To assess on-farm niches of improved forages, demonstration trials and participatory on-
