Etiologic Agents and Antifungal Susceptibility of Oral Candidosis from Romanian patients with HIV-infection or type 1 diabetes mellitus [PDF]

open access: yesPolish Journal of Microbiology, 2016
This is the first Romanian investigation of oral candidosis in patients suffering of HIV-infection or type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).Candida albicans was the dominant species in both types of isolates: n = 14 (46.7%) in T1DM, n = 60 (69.8%) in HIV.

Structure of cell wall mannan of Candida kefyr IFO 0586 [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1994
We conducted a structural analysis of the antigenic cell wall mannoprotein (mannan) isolated from Candida kefyr (formerly Candida pseudotropicalis) IFO 0586. The result of two-dimensional homonuclear Hartmann-Hahn analysis of this mannan indicates that the molecule is constructed from alpha-1,2- and alpha-1,6-linked mannopyranose residues.

Candida and Porphyromonas gingivalis: the effect on wound closure in vitro

open access: yesJournal of Oral Microbiology, 2017
Microorganisms play a role in oral mucositis after cancer therapy. The current study explored the hypothesis that Candida spp. alone and together with Porphyromonas gingivalis cause delayed healing of oral ulcerations due to the inhibition of wound ...

Performance of Short-Term Culture and Direct MALDI-TOF MS for Identification of Candida Species From Blood Cultures. [PDF]

open access: yesAPMIS
ABSTRACT Rapid and reliable identification of Candida spp. is crucial due to changing epidemiology and increasing resistance. This study aims to compare the identification rates, average Log Score (LS) values, and three different methods: short‐term culture, Sepsityper kit, and an in‐house method.
