Accessing Low-Valent Titanium CCC-NHC Complexes: Toward Nitrogen Fixation
The dramatic expansion of the earth’s population can be directly correlated with the Haber–Bosch process for nitrogen fixation becoming widely available after World War II.

Hyperphosphorescent OLEDs: Harnessing the Power of MR‐TADF Terminal Emitters
Hyperphosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (HP‐OLEDs) use phosphorescent sensitizers with multiresonant thermally activated delayed fluorescence terminal emitters. HP‐OLEDs show efficient, narrowband electroluminescence and moderate efficiency roll‐off.

Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence and Beyond. Photophysics and Material Design Strategies.
Photophysical properties of TADF molecules are determined by characteristic parameters that are discussed in detail(. Moreover, using femtosecond time‐resolved spectroscopy, quantum mechanical considerations, and state‐of‐art calculations, deeper understanding allows us to design breakthrough Cu(I) and organic TADF‐ OLED materials. For the latter ones,

Adsorbate-driven cooling of carbene-based molecular junctions
We study the role of an NH2 adsorbate on the current-induced heating and cooling of a neighboring carbene-based molecular circuit. We use first-principles methods of inelastic tunneling transport based on density functional theory and non-equilibrium ...

This study reveals that ligand stereoelectronic effects, rather than vinylogous electrophilicity, govern selectivity in Ag‐, Rh‐, and Cu‐catalyzed vinylcarbene C(sp3)H insertions. These insights guide the design of more selective catalysts for CH functionalization.

Metal-Dependent Umpolung Reactivity of Carbenes Derived from Cyclopropenes
Summary: Metal carbenes, divalent carbon species, are versatile intermediates that enable novel synthetic pathways. These species exhibit either electrophilic or nucleophilic character, depending on the carbene and metal fragments.

γ‐Amino acid derivatives with an α‐quaternary center are prevalent in medicinally important compounds. A dual N‐heterocyclic carbene/photocatalytic pathway is developed for the three‐component synthesis of α, α ‐disubstituted γ‐amino esters. This methodology allows for the rapid synthesis of diverse libraries of γ‐amino esters in good yields.

The N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) now hold a preferred-ligand status in organic and organometallic chemistry. Their role in catalysis continues to grow. When the editorial staff at the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry contacted me to act as a guest editor for the thematic series “N-Heterocyclic carbenes”, I was more than happy to accept what ...

Gold‐Catalyzed Synthesis of Fluorenones via Intramolecular C–H Arylation
Starting from 2‐diazobenzophenones, a straightforward synthesis of valuable fluorenones via a gold‐catalyzed one‐pot oxidation, C–H activation, and cyclization is described. The addition of ascorbic acid, the correct selection of the counteranion of the 2‐diazobenzophenones, and the use of terpyridine as an auxiliary ligand are crucial for the reaction
