Stable Carbenes as Structural Components of Partially Saturated Sulfur-Containing Heterocycles

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Recently, an unusual elongation of the C-S bond was observed experimentally for some sulfur-containing heterocycles. Using a superior ab initio (SCS-MP2/cc-pVTZ) level of theory, we showed that the phenomenon can be explained by a contribution of a donor–

Carbene Catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The use of N-heterocyclic carbenes as catalysts for organic transformations has received increased attention in the past 10 years. A discussion of catalyst development and nucleophilic characteristics precedes a description of recent advancements and new reactions using N-heterocyclic carbenes in catalysis.

Asymmetric Strategies for the Synthesis of Enantiopure α‐/β‐/γ‐Thio‐Carboxylic Acids Bearing a Stereocentre at CS Bond

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Enantioenriched α‐/β‐/γ‐thiocarboxylic acids featuring C–S chirality are valuable targets in organic synthesis. This review outlines recent progress in their asymmetric synthesis, including chiral pool approaches, metal‐ /organo‐catalysis, and emerging biocatalytic strategies. Enantiomerically pure α‐/β‐/γ‐thiocarboxylic acids bearing a stereocentre at

A step-for-step main-group replica of the Fischer carbene synthesis at a borylene carbonyl

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The Fischer carbene synthesis, involving the conversion of a transition metal (TM)-bound CO ligand to a carbene ligand of the form [=C(OR’)R] (R, R’ = organyl groups), is one of the seminal reactions in the history of organometallic chemistry.

Water‐Catalytic Deconstructive and Proton Transfer Cyclopropanation of Sulfoxonium Ylide with Olefin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Water‐catalytic deconstructive and proton transfer cyclopropanation of sulfoxonium ylide with olefin is developed through a sequential water‐mediated ring‐closing/opening reaction. This atom‐economical, environmentally friendly methodology offers easy access to a range of cyclopropyl ketones with moderate to good yields.

Organocatalytic C─O Bond Cleavage and Asymmetric Transformations via [1,3]‐Sigmatropic Rearrangement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A direct asymmetric strategy for fulfilling the functional group transfer by aryl ether cleavage and migration is developed, representing the first Brønsted base‐catalyzed asymmetric [1,3]‐sigmatropic rearrangement reaction. The resulting chiral benzofuran products generated through this strategy exhibit significant 3D‐dimensionality and demonstrate ...

SuFEx‐Enabled Catalytic Synthesis of Fluorescent Organosulfur Polymers for the Rapid Detection of Explosives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rapid detection of explosives is essential for public safety and national security. Here, conjugated polymers (SPs), incorporating pentiptycene with organosulfur side chains, have been reported using sulfur(VI)‐fluoride exchange (SuFEx). The SP‐7 polymer exhibited exceptional fluorescence quenching (>99% in 60 s) for detecting nitroaromatic explosives.

Maneuvering Charge Transport via Insulating Polymer Interface for Steering Photoredox Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Non‐conjugated insulating polymer functions as an electron‐capturing mediator to boost interfacial charge transfer and separation, contributing to considerably enhanced photocatalytic selective organic transformation and solar CO2 conversion under visible light irradiation. Abstract Maneuvering precise and tunable charge transportation has remained the
