Effect of carbide volume fraction on the oxidation of austenitic Fe-Cr-C alloys
Materials and Corrosion, 2006A series of Fe-15Cr-(2-3)Mo alloys (compositions in weight percent) was produced with different carbon concentrations, to control the distribution of chromium between matrix metal and M 23 C 6 precipitates. The alloys were oxidized in the austenitic state at 850 °C in pure oxygen, with and without a pre-oxidation treatment at low oxygen potential ...

The Effect of the Hardfacing Processes Parameters on the Carbide Volume Fraction
2019The paper presents the results of research on the possibility of shaping the hardfacing structure by changing the conditions of the surfacing process. The material used in research was high carbon and chromium a self-shielding cored wire giving the hardness 760–840 HV (62–65 HRC) according to the manufacturer.

Four-point bending creep tests were conducted in air on two alumina matrix composites reinforced with 18 and 30 vol% of silicon carbide whiskers, respectively. In both materials, the SiC whiskers tended to form agglomerates. In the temperature range from 1673 to 1823 K, the stress exponents, n, were ∼3.9 and ∼6.3 and the activation energies for creep ...

The hot deformation behaviour and microstructure evolution of stir cast 7075Al alloy and 7075Al alloy with 10, 15 and 20 % volume fraction of 20 μm SiCp composites have been studied by using the processing maps. The compression tests were conducted on both alloys and composites in the temperature range of 300–500 °C and the strain rate range of 0.001–1.

Abstract Information on the densities and the lattice parameters of the different phases of the ternary CoWC system has been evaluated in terms of a thermodynamic model. Both the dependence on composition as well as temperature has been analysed. The resulting parameters have been used to describe how the volume fractions of the individual phases ...

High Volume Fraction Carbide Reinforced Copper Matrix Composites for Sliding Contact Applications
Materials Science Forum, 2007This study deals with the processing, microstructure and properties of the carbide reinforced copper matrix composites. Powder technology was used to successfully fabricate the composites. NbC particulates were used as reinforcements for copper matrix. The microstructure of the composite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy.
