Metabologenomic Hallmark‐Based Discovery of Bacterial Thioamides as a New Lead against Drug‐Resistant Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A targeted metabologenomic strategy integrating genomic and metabolomic hallmarks enabled the discovery of two new thioamides, thiogochangamides A and B, from bacteria. Their absolute configurations, previously unresolved within the thioviridamide family, were fully assigned through various chemical derivatizations and computational analysis ...

Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...

Method for Analyzing the Molecular and Carbon Isotope Composition of Volatile Hydrocarbons (C1–C9) in Natural Gas

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, 2018
Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with gas chromatography-isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-IRMS) has already been applied to collect and identify volatile light hydrocarbons in oil and source rocks.

Axial F–Bi–Ov Electron Pump Drives Continuous Reconfiguration of Bi Sites for Efficient Photocatalytic N2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Axial Fluorine and Light‐Induced Oxygen Vacancies Synergize as an Electron Pump to Lower N2 Activation Energy and Enable Sustained NH3 Synthesis on FBWO. ABSTRACT The electronic structure precision of single‐atom catalysts (SACs) represents a decisive factor limiting advancements in photocatalytic nitrogen reduction (NRR) efficiency.

Tailored Porous Bimetallic Nanozyme Platform for Full‐Cycle Therapeutics of Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury presents a biphasic pathology: an acute oxidative‐inflammatory phase leading to organ failure, and a recovery phase marked by mucosal dysfunction and bacterial translocation. The developed MPB@TA‐Cu‐Ma nanocomposite functions as a dual‐phase therapeutic platform with significant efficacy. It rapidly

Quantitative and Nuanced Approaches Elucidate Carbon Isotope Records

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Earth scientists have leveraged carbon isotope records to interpret Earth history and establish chronostratigraphic frameworks for decades (e.g., Halverson et al., 2005, https://doi.org/10.1130/b25630.1; Kaufman & Knoll, 1995, https://doi.org/10.1016 ...

Archaeal lipid biomarker constraints on the Paleocene-Eocene carbon isotope excursion

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
The Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (c. 55 million years ago) was a period associated with massive carbon injection into the atmosphere, yet discrepancies in carbon isotope proxy records have led to substantial uncertainties in the source, scale, and ...

The Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary marine extinction and global primary productivity collapse [PDF]

open access: yes
The extinction of marine phyto-and zoo-plankton across the K-T boundary has been well documented. Such an event may have resulted in decreased photosynthetic fixation of carbon in surface waters and a collapse of the food chain in the marine biosphere ...

Liquid Bismuth Catalyst Enables High‐CO‐Selectivity in CO2 Hydrogenation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a dynamic liquid bismuth catalyst for efficient CO2‐to‐syngas conversion. Stabilized molten Bi nanodroplets on a defective VOx support enable a reversible Bi3+/Bi0 redox cycle at moderate temperatures. Mechanistic insights reveal that Ni‐Bi dual sites synergistically activate H2 and cleave CO2, leading to high CO selectivity ...
