The Mechanochemistry of Carboranes
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2022AbstractWe developed o‐carborane as a new mechanophore by showing that the o‐carborane cluster is the preferred scission site in chain‐centered polymers through ultrasonication mechanochemistry. Mechanistic studies are consistent with a predominately homolytic mechanism of chain scission.

CARBORANES AND METALLOCARBORANES*
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1974Abstract : One of the most significant developments in modern boron chemistry was the discovery of the carboranes. The substitution of CH(3+) vertices for BH(2+) units in boron hydride polyhedra opened up an entire new field of chemical endeavor.

Icosahedral carboranes. XIII. Halogenation of p-carborane
Inorganic Chemistry, 1969Abstract : A method for the preparation and purification of substantial amounts of p-carborane is described. Chloro-, bromo- and iodo-p-carboranes were obtained via direct halogenation. The various halogenated species were separated by either column or vapor phase chromatography.

Carborane‐Based Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2013CA inhibitors: Human carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Various carborane cages are shown to act as active-site-directed inhibitors, and substitution with a sulfamide group and other substituents leads to compounds with high selectivity towards the cancer-specific isozyme IX.

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2009
AbstractThe convenient synthesis of original aminobenzyl‐o‐carboranes, which represent a new class of nitrogenated carborane derivatives, is described. These novel compounds have been efficiently prepared starting from commercially available aromatic aldehydes and monosubstituted o‐carboranes via carboranyl alcohols and chlorides as intermediates.

1. Carboranyl derivatives of thallium with a B-Tl bond were obtained by the direct thallation of substituted carboranes. 2. In their properties the borothallated carboranes differ sharply from the aryl analogs but resemble the C-thallated carboranes.

Icosahedral carboranes. XVII. Simplified preparation of o-carborane
Inorganic Chemistry, 1972Abstract : A new synthesis of 1,2-dicarbaclosododecaborane is described which involves the reaction of acetylene with B10H12L2 compounds in the solid state. This simplified laboratory procedure provides pure o-carborane in one step as a sublimate from the reaction mixture. (Author)

New carboranes and phosphaboranes
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 2003Abstract A review is presented on the new routes to the synthesis of the monocarbaboranes [arachno-6-CB9H14]–, arachno-4-CB8H14, and nido-1-CB8H12, that now have become excellent starting materials for the preparation of a family of seven-, eight-, and nine-vertex closo-monocarbaborane anions [2-CB6H7]–, [1-CB7H8]–, and [4-CB8H9]–. These
