Abstract Chromyl Chloride reacts with carboxylic acids [RCOOH where R = C2H5, n-C3H7, CH2CI, CHCl2 and CCI3] to give reduced chromium(III) carboxylates, [Cr3 O(OOCR)6 (H2O)3 ]Cl. Magnetic susceptibility, UV-visible and IR measurements are all consistent with their trinuclear basic structures.
