Comparison of meat performance of Montbeliarde and Czech Pied bulls fattened to live weight of 680 kg

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2004
Czech Pied bulls (C, n=18) and Montbeliarde bulls (M, n=18) were fattened up to the live weight of 680 kg in identical conditions with the aim to compare their meat performance. Mean values of the observed meat performance characteristics were as follows:

Unveiling human–wildlife interactions in the context of livestock grazing abandonment and the return of large carnivores, ungulates and vultures: A stakeholder perspective

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Pastoral practices remain a widespread economic activity across European mountain regions. However, the viability of this activity may be threatened by the recovery of large wild vertebrates associated with passive rewilding, leading to the so‐called human–wildlife conflicts.

Body Weight and Carcass Development in Different Lines of Turkeys

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1991
Body weight and carcass component weights of turkeys from a growth-selected line (F), a randombred control population (RBC2), and a commercial sire line (C) were compared at hatch, 4, 8, 12, and 16 wk of age. At hatch there were no significant differences in BW between the F and RBC2 lines, but the C line poults weighed significantly less than the F ...

Drivers of human attitudes towards wolves Canis lupus in Kazakhstan

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.

Understanding contingency in wolf‐mediated livestock predation across a mosaic of land uses: An agent‐based modelling approach

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The return of grey wolves to multi‐use landscapes in North America and Europe raises concerns over accompanying risks of livestock predation. While local‐level risk factors have received attention, it is difficult to explore the role that landscape‐scale variables, such as landscape connectivity, play in driving livestock losses.
