Coturnix D1 Carcass Yield

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1979
Abstract Fifty Coturnix coturnix japonica of the D1 variety averaged 164 g live weight at nine weeks of age and 148 g after a 15-hr period without feed and water. Carcass yield was calculated to be 69% based on pre-shrink weight and 77% after feed and water withdrawal. A 164 g Coturnix quail yielded a carcass weighing 113 g ± 8.44 SD. A 113 g carcass

Nutritional strategies to improve carcass yield and carcass composition in fattening rabbits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The main objective of this PhD was to study the effect of different nutritional strategies on carcass traits. Secondary, it was also researched the effect of those strategies on growth performance, carcass chemical composition and nitrogen and energy balance in growing rabbits. For this purpose, four experiments were conducted.

USDA yield grades and various carcass traits as predictors of carcass composition

open access: yesMeat Science, 1985
Twenty-five carcasses from each of three breedtypes (Brahman, Angus and Brahman × Angus) were physically separated into fat, lean and bone. Several muscles from the round and the femur were used to derive equations to predict carcass composition and muscle-to-bone ratio. The femur (as a percentage of the carcass) was shown to predict percentage carcass

Addition of yellow grease to grain-based diets and taiwan grass on growth performance of finishing hair lambs

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2020
Growing lambs were used to evaluate the effects of dietary inclusion of yellow grease (YG) on performance and carcass yield. Sixteen male hair lambs were assigned randomly to one of two diets with 0 or 30 g YG/kg DM and similar energy and protein content.
