The Food and Beverage Occurrence of Furfuryl Alcohol and Myrcene—Two Emerging Potential Human Carcinogens?

open access: yesToxics, 2017
For decades, compounds present in foods and beverages have been implicated in the etiology of human cancers. The World Health Organization (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) continues to classify such agents regarding their ...

ZDHHC12 Palmitoylates HDAC8 to Promote the Progression of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Associated with a Diet High in Saturated Fatty Acids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies ZDHHC12 as a critical mediator of PA‐induced HCC progression. Mechanistically, PA upregulates ZDHHC12 expression through SMARCA4 activation, leading to HDAC8 palmitoylation at Cys244 which blocks HSC70‐mediated lysosomal degradation of HDAC8, thereby promoting HCC development. These findings provide novel mechanistic insights into

Targeted Delivery of CNS‐Specific Hesperidin as a Leptin Sensitizer for Treating Obesity‐Associated Sleep‐Disordered Breathing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hesperidin nanoparticles (HE NPs) effectively combat obesity and sleep‐disordered breathing in mice by enhancing leptin sensitivity. Through suppression of hypothalamic endoplasmic reticulum stress and restoration of leptin signaling, HE NPs promote weight loss and improve breathing during sleep.

The process of cancer. Part I. The role of selected factors in the induction of carcinogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport, 2019
Summary Introduction and objective: Cancer arises from genetic and epigenetic changes in the cell. Indication of the direct causes of cancer is no doubt very difficult, because the process of carcinogenesis is a multi-level and multi-stage. Knowledge of

NamiRNA‐Enhancer Network: The Changing Era Challenge and Chance of miRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MiRNAs (miRNAs) regulate diverse biological processes across species. Unlike canonical miRNA‐mediated gene repression, Nuclear Activating miRNAs (NamiRNAs) can efficiently upregulate gene expression by targeting enhancers. This review systematically summarizes recent advances in NamiRNA research, elucidates the theory of NamiRNA‐Enhancer‐mediated Gene ...

KLK1 as an Epithelial‐Specific Brake Inhibits Colorectal Tumorigenesis by Suppressing B1R‐Mediated Fibroblast Phenotypic Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
KLK1 downregulation disrupts the intestinal mucosal barrier and impairs kallikrein‐kinin signaling, thereby reducing Lys‐des‐Arg9‐BK production. This enhances B1R activation on ADAMDEC1⁺ fibroblasts, promoting inflammation and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. The resulting iCAFs promote colorectal cancer progression, highlighting a novel KLK1‐B1R
