Diathermy smoke: hazardous to health? [PDF]
The heat used in electrocautery causes cells to boil and explode, or simply dry up, producing a gaseous by-product known as diathermy smoke. This smoke may have mutagenic and carcinogenic potential, similar to that of cigarette smoke (Spearman et al ...

A microwave‐assisted approach yields Zr‐MOF/Ag4P2O7 heterostructures with superior solar responsiveness and efficient charge‐carrier separation. The hybrid photocatalyst rapidly degrades dyes and fluoroquinolone antibiotics into less toxic species under visible‐light. Comprehensive optical, mechanistic, and phytotoxicity analyses reveal its robustness,

Integrated machine learning framework for phenolic derivatives: classification (toxicity) and regression (logP) models identify top drug‐like compounds. Random Forest outperformed for toxicity, while Linear Regression best predicted logP. A weighted scoring approach prioritized five safe, lipophilicity‐optimized candidates, supporting rational ...

Low radon exposures and lung cancer risk: joint analysis of the Czech, French, and Beaverlodge cohorts of uranium miners. [PDF]
It is well established that high radon exposures increase the risk of lung cancer mortality. The effects of low occupational exposures and the factors that confound and modify this risk are not clear and are needed to inform current radiation protection ...

The chimeric RNA ERCC1‐iASPP possesses dual coding and non‐coding functions, synergistically accelerating the process of cellular malignant transformation. Abstract Genetic variation at 19q13.3 critically modulates chemical carcinogen‐induced lung carcinogenesis, particularly in mediating the activity of benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P), a major polycyclic ...
