DDX3X induces mesenchymal transition of endothelial cells by disrupting BMPR2 signaling
Elevated DDX3X expression led to downregulation of BMPR2, a key regulator of endothelial homeostasis and function. Our co‐immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated a molecular interaction between DDX3X and BMPR2. Notably, DDX3X promoted lysosomal degradation of BMPR2, thereby impairing its downstream signaling and facilitating endothelial‐to ...

Natural and Induced Mitochondrial Phosphate Carrier Loss: DIFFERENTIAL DEPENDENCE OF MITOCHONDRIAL METABOLISM AND DYNAMICS AND CELL SURVIVAL ON THE EXTENT OF DEPLETION. [PDF]
The relevance of mitochondrial phosphate carrier (PiC), encoded by SLC25A3, in bioenergetics is well accepted. However, little is known about the mechanisms mediating the cellular impairments induced by pathological SLC25A3 variants.

Fibroblast-mediated pathways in cardiac hypertrophy [PDF]
Under normal physiological conditions, cardiac fibroblasts are the primary producers of extracellular matrix and supply a mechanical scaffold for efficacious heart contractions induced by cardiomyocytes. In the hypertrophic heart, cardiac fibroblasts provide a pivotal contribution to cardiac remodeling.

Isolation of Adult Mouse Cardiac Fibroblasts
AbstractFibroblasts are dynamic cells of mesenchymal origin that regulate tissue homeostasis, extracellular matrix production, and acute wound healing. Fibroblasts respond to tissue injury and inflammation by differentiating into myofibroblasts and secreting extracellular matrix proteins. Fibroblasts are the principal mediators of the fibrotic response

ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Distribution of the cell substratum attachment (CSAT) antigen on myogenic and fibroblastic cells in culture. [PDF]
Previous studies (Neff et al., 1982, J. Cell. Biol. 95:654-666; Decker et al., 1984. J. Cell. Biol. 99:1388-1404) have described a monoclonal antibody (CSAT Mab) directed against a complex of three integral membrane glycoproteins of 120,000-160,000 mol ...

Targeting RyR Activity Boosts Antisense Exon 44 and 45 Skipping in Human DMD Skeletal or Cardiac Muscle Culture Models. [PDF]
Systemic delivery of antisense oligonucleotides (AO) for DMD exon skipping has proven effective for reframing DMD mRNA, rescuing dystrophin expression, and slowing disease progression in animal models.

A TRP to cardiac fibroblast differentiation [PDF]
The differentiation of cardiac fibroblasts to myofibroblasts is one of the key events during cardiac remodeling, however, the molecular mechanism underlying this process is not well known. Calcium signaling plays an important role in the regulation of cardiac fibroblast function, but its role in the differentiation of fibroblasts is undefined. Recently

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Cardiac telocytes and fibroblasts in primary culture: different morphologies and immunophenotypes. [PDF]
Telocytes (TCs) are a peculiar type of interstitial cells with very long prolongations termed telopodes. TCs have previously been identified in different anatomic structures of the heart, and have also been isolated and cultured from heart tissues in ...
