Effect of temperature of cardioplegic solution

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1978
This study tests the hypothesis that the efficacy of cardioplegic solution depends upon its chemical constituents rather than on its temperature alone. A standard preparation of right heart bypass in the dog was utilized. Left ventricular function curves were inscribed before and after 1 hour of aortic cross-clamping.

Single-Dose Del Nido Cardioplegia vs. Blood Cardioplegia in Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, 2020
Introduction: In this study, we aimed to compare Del Nido cardioplegia (DNC) with blood cardioplegia (BC) in aortic valve replacement. Methods: A two-year single-institute retrospective cohort study was accomplished.

The Role of Preservation Solutions upon Saphenous Vein Endothelial Integrity and Function: Systematic Review and UK Practice Survey

open access: yesCells, 2023
The long saphenous vein is the most used conduit in cardiac surgery, but its long-term patency is limited by vein graft disease (VGD). Endothelial dysfunction is a key driver of VGD; its aetiology is multi-factorial.

Custodiol-N, the novel cardioplegic solution reduces ischemia/reperfusion injury after cardiopulmonary bypass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Backgrounds: On the basis of Custodiol preservation and cardioplegic solution a novel cardioplegic solution was developed to improve the postischemic cardiac and endothelial function.

Developmental differences in myocyte contractile response after cardioplegic arrest [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Although developmental differences in left ventricular function after cardioplegic arrest and rewarming have been postulated, whether differences exist at the level of the myocyte remains unexplored.

Solução cardioplégica polarizante: estado da arte Polarizing cardioplegic solution: state of the art

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, 2005

Restricting excessive cardiac action potential and QT prolongation: a vital role for IKs in human ventricular muscle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background - Although pharmacological block of the slow, delayed rectifier potassium current (I-Ks) by chromanol 293B, L-735,821, or HMR-1556 produces little effect on action potential duration (APD) in isolated rabbit and dog ventricular myocytes, the ...

Cardioplegic solution: A contamination crisis

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1986
Eleven patients were given varying doses of cardioplegic solution contaminated with Enterobacter cloacae. Five patients died. Early bleeding, necessitating reoperation, occurred in eight patients and a total of 126 units of blood and 203 units of platelets were given (range 2 to 19 and 15 to 47 units, respectively).

Comparison of Del Nido Cardioplegia and Blood Cardioplegia in Terms of Development of Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation in Patients Undergoing Isolated Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, 2020
Objective: Del Nido cardioplegia (DNC) has been used in pediatric cardiac surgery for many years with a single dose application and its usage in adult cardiac surgery has been increasing in recent years, with results being published.
