Decoding Undesirable Inflammatory Responses of Nucleic Acid‐Delivering Lipid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) enable efficient nucleic acid delivery, but their immunogenicity is a double‐edged sword. This review explores LNP‐driven innate and adaptive immunity, covering lipid components, endosomal escape, and nucleic acid sensing.

Ketamine has no effect on oxygenation indices following elective coronary artery bypass grafting under cardiopulmonary bypass

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, 2011
Cardiopulmonary bypass is known to elicit systemic inflammatory response syndrome and organ dysfunction. This can result in pulmonary dysfunction and deterioration of oxygenation after cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass.

Variability in ACT Response to Standard UFH Bolus During PCI: A Prospective Study on Determinants of Subtherapeutic Anticoagulation

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 107, Issue 7, Page 2293-2303, June 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Unfractionated heparin (UFH) remains the standard anticoagulant during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), with guidelines recommending a target activated clotting time (ACT) of ≥250 s. However, despite receiving a standardized bolus dose, many patients fail to achieve this target.

Atrial Flutter as a Late Presentation of Scimitar Vein in an Adult With Prior ASD Repair

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Adult patients with unexplained atrial arrhythmias and right heart dilation should prompt consideration of congenital anomalies such as scimitar vein, even decades after atrial septal defect repair. Early recognition using multi‐modality imaging may prevent delayed diagnosis and progressive cardiopulmonary complications.

Ultra‐High‐Molecular‐Weight Polyethylene Cables for Sternal Closure in a Metal‐Allergic Patient With Stanford Type A Acute Aortic Dissection: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene cables may provide a useful and effective non‐metallic alternative for sternal closure in patients with suspected or confirmed metal hypersensitivity, particularly in emergency cardiac surgery where preoperative allergy testing is not feasible.

Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome (OHS) as A Chronic Inflammatory Disease: A Clinical Case

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Delayed recognition and management of severe obesity and obesity hypoventilation syndrome may result in life‐threatening respiratory failure and multi‐organ complications requiring prolonged intensive care. In metabolically unstable patients, pre‐existing obesity‐related malnutrition may worsen despite obesity itself and contribute to ...
