Integrating Nature Into Oncology: Enhancing Hematological Malignancies Therapies With Natural Medicine

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 21, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Hematological malignancies are complex clonal disorders that pose a significant threat to human health. Current treatment modalities, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplantation, have demonstrated efficacy but are often limited by side effects, drug resistance, and suboptimal cure rates.

Na+/K+-ATPase as a target for cardiotonic steroids and cisplatin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The sodium (Na+)/potassium (K+)-ATPase is an ion pump located on the surface of all animal cells. It pumps three sodium ions out of the cell while pumping two potassium ions into the cell, hydrolyzing one ATP molecule as the driving force for the ...

The association between red blood cell transfusion timing and the development of retinopathy of prematurity: Application of the two‐phase theory

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 6, Page 645-651, September 2025.
Abstract Purpose Red blood cell (RBC) transfusions are believed to be associated with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), but the underlying mechanism is not fully understood, partly due to the lack of information on RBC transfusion timing. The aim was to determine the association between the timing and amount of RBC transfusions and the development and ...

Cardiotonic Steroids Suppress Adenovirus Replication

open access: yes, 2018
Human adenoviruses are common pathogens that can cause life-threatening illness, yet no approved therapies are available for treatment. This work shows that two cardiotonic steroids, digoxin and digitoxin, inhibit adenovirus replication in A549 lung ...

A catalytic method for the synthesis of 4-alkyl(aryl)-6-aryl-3-cyano-2(1H)-pyridinones and their 2-imino isosteres as nonsteroidal cardiotonic agents

open access: yes, 2010
A highly efficient procedure for the synthesis of 4-alkyl(aryl)-6-aryl-3-cyano-2(1H)-pyridinones and their 2-imino isosteres via a one-pot multicomponent reaction of 3,4-dimethoxyacetophenone, malonitrile or ethyl cyanoacetate, an aldehyde and ammonium ...

Trajectories of Physical Activity During a 6‐Month Mobile App‐Based Lifestyle Modification Intervention in Physically Inactive Adults With Cardiovascular Risk Factors

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Mobile app‐based health promotion allows frequent and longitudinal monitoring of lifestyle modifications for cardiovascular prevention. We explored the trajectories of physical activity (PA) during mobile app‐based disease management programs in adults with cardiovascular risk using group‐based trajectory modeling (GBTM). Male participants who
