The association between red blood cell transfusion timing and the development of retinopathy of prematurity: Application of the two‐phase theory

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 6, Page 645-651, September 2025.
Abstract Purpose Red blood cell (RBC) transfusions are believed to be associated with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), but the underlying mechanism is not fully understood, partly due to the lack of information on RBC transfusion timing. The aim was to determine the association between the timing and amount of RBC transfusions and the development and ...

Morphology and Chemical Composition of the Nuchal Glands of Indonesian Snakes With a Description of a Novel Type of Glands

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 286, Issue 8, August 2025.
Nuchal glands, or organs resembling glands, were found in the head or neck region of Rhabdophis spp. from Indonesia. These species exhibit different spatial patterns of glands, with Rhabdophis from Sulawesi in particular showing a novel form located in the temporal and occipital regions of the head—possibly comparable to nuchal glands.
