Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry: Fundamental Principles, Diverse Applications, and the Latest Technological Frontiers

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The review examines the evolution of chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CI‐MS), a technique developed in 1966 by Field and Munson. CI is a soft‐ionization method that produces more intense molecular ions with less fragmentation than electron ionization (EI).

Unveiling Cell‐Type‐Specific Immune Reactions in Human Blood Following Varied Fruit and Vegetable Blends Interventions

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Paired peripheral‐blood RNA‐seq from MiBLEND was deconvolved with CIBERSORTx to profile leukocyte composition and cell‐type‐specific transcriptomic responses to seven fruit‐and‐vegetable blends. Deconvolution yielded 22 leukocyte subtypes that correlated with laboratory WBC reports (R = 0.886, p ≤ 0.01).

Benefits of Nutrients and Phytonutrients in Nuts and Legumes on Platelet Aggregation Through DNA Methylation

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Nuts and legumes contain both nutrients and bioactive compounds supporting cardiovascular health related to influencing DNA methylation. These foods are related to reducing oxidative stress, supplying methyl donors, and modulating genes involved in platelet function, such as PEAR1 and mitochondrial genes, in association with helping reduce inflammation
