A geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase gene, IbGGPS, increases carotenoid contents in transgenic sweetpotato

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2022
Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase (GGPS) plays an important role in the biosynthesis of carotenoids. In a previous study, the IbGGPS gene was isolated from a sweetpotato, Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam., line Nongdafu 14 with high carotenoid contents, but ...

Chitosan‐Carbon Dot Composite Materials Form a Leaf Surface Barrier to Mitigate the Enrichment and Invasion of Nanoplastics: From Leaf Interface to Systemic Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Biosynthesis and extraction of high-value carotenoid from algae.

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience, 2021
Algae possess a considerable potential as bio-refinery for the scale-up production of high-value natural compounds like-carotenoids. Carotenoids are accessory pigments in the light-harvesting apparatus and also act as antioxidants and photo-protectors in

Excipient Emulsion–Based Delivery Systems for Enhancing Carotenoid Bioavailability: Advances in Formulation and Gastrointestinal Fate

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Excipient emulsion systems improve carotenoid solubilization, protect against degradation, and enhance gastrointestinal absorption through optimized formulation and digestion behavior. ABSTRACT Carotenoids are bioactive compounds that contribute to human health through antioxidant, provitamin A, and disease‐preventive effects.

Molecular Mechanisms Involved in Biosynthesis and Regulation of Carotenoids in Plants

open access: yesJournal of Horticultural Sciences, 2016
Carotenoids are coloured compounds beneficial to plants and humans. Some of the major health benefits carotenoids provide include Vitamin A precursors and, antioxidants besides being involved in several physiological functions.

Biobased Polyurethane Films Based on Andiroba (Carapa guianensis) and Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa) Oil Polyols

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Polyurethane films were prepared from andiroba (Carapa guianensis) and buriti (Mauritia flexuosa) oil‐derived polyols, emphasizing their potential as bio‐based materials. UV–Vis analysis indicates the retention of carotenoid‐related chromophoric features within the polymer matrix.

Enabling the study of gene function in gymnosperms: Virus‐induced gene silencing in Ephedra tweedieana

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise As the sister clade to angiosperms, extant gymnosperms are crucial for reconstructing ancestral gene regulatory networks in seed plants. This highlights the need for model systems representing each of their distinct lineages. However, tools to quickly and effectively investigate gene function in gymnosperms are still limited due to the

MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF A GREEN ALGAE ISOLATE BY 16S rRNA IN IMPROVEMENT OF CAROTENOID PRODUCTION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Sintesis karotenoid alami belum pernah melebihi produk sintetik pada skala komersial. Kurangnya pemahaman mengenai aspek mikrobiologis dan ekofisiologis isolat penghasil karotenoid seringkali menyebabkan terjadinya kesalahan penamaan spesies.
