A Wood Plasticine With Controlled Phase‐Change Behavior and Malleability for Energy‐Closed‐Loop and Conformally Adaptive Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A photothermal wood plasticine exhibiting controlled phase‐change behavior and malleable property is developed. The developed wood plasticine can provide all‐day, on‐demand, and low‐loss solar heating for geometrically diverse objects, including thermoelectric generator, human body, and battery, through its controlled crystallization‐melting ...

Over-the-counter carrageenan-based sprays may interfere with PCR testing of nasopharyngeal swabs to detect SARS-CoV-2.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Carrageenan-containing nasal sprays, available over-the-counter (OTC), are often marketed as having anti-viral effects. Carrageenan belongs to the glycosaminoglycan family alongside heparin, and heparin is known to inhibit real-time quantitative ...

The antiviral activity of iota-, kappa-, and lambda-carrageenan against COVID-19: A critical review

open access: yesClinical Epidemiology and Global Health, 2021
Objective: There is no specific antiviral treatment available for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Among the possible natural constituents is carrageenan, a polymer derived from marine algae that possesses a variety of antiviral properties.

Scalable Wheat Bran‐Algae Composites for Edible Electronics with Spray‐Coated Food‐Grade Conductive Inks

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A fully edible wheat bran–algae substrate is fabricated through scalable mould‐compression and spray‐coating, enabling robust, food‐grade platforms for sustainable electronics. A chitosan barrier improves water resistance and ink compatibility, while activated‐carbon conductive films form uniform electrodes with Ohmic behaviour.

Aquafaba (Chickpea Cooking Water) as a Natural Emulsifier in the Development of Plant‐Based Coffee Whitener

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the possibility of using aquafaba powder, derived from chickpea cooking water, as a natural emulsifier in the formulation of plant‐based coffee whitener was evaluated. For this purpose, coffee whiteners, which are emulsion type products, are obtained by high‐shear mixing followed by high‐pressure homogenization of the aqueous ...

Eco‐Friendly Aqueous Polymeric Binders for High‐Performance Graphite Anodes: Structure–Property Insights for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF) is commonly used as a binder material in the preparation of anode or cathode electrode slurries for commercial Li‐ion batteries (LIBs). High‐cost PVdF binder generally requires the use of toxic and environmentally unfriendly N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) as a solvent for dissolution.
