Droughts and human impact in the ancient Uaymil region of the Maya lowlands inferred from a 2800‐year sedimentary archive at Lake Kaná, Mexico

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The relationship between the climate and societal transformation in Maya lowlands has long been debated, particularly the role of drought in shaping the civilization trajectory during the Classic Period. A high‐resolution, multi‐proxy, geochemical record from Lake Kaná, located in the underexplored Uaymil region of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico ...

Forest type influence on Heliconia‐dipteran interaction networks

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Responses to forest type depended on the developmental stage of dipterans. Bract traits and forest type influenced larval abundance, but forest type had no impact on adult alpha and beta diversity. Heliconia‐dipteran interaction networks showed a nested pattern for both forest types.

Reconciling links between diversity and population stability across global plant communities

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Maintaining ecological stability is essential for sustaining ecosystem functions and the benefits they provide to society. Ecological theory predicts that plant diversity destabilizes local populations, yet empirical studies report variable effects.

Coproduction as a Causal Process

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT That many public goods and services are coproduced jointly by government agencies (regular producers) together with clients and citizens (consumer producers) represents a fundamental insight, although it has proven a challenge to define coproduction clearly and to study it rigorously.

Integrating the Substituent Effect into the Wade–Mingos Rules for Dicarboranes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 52, December 22, 2025.
The new substituent‐counting rule, P = nM + 1.1nH, incorporates substituent effects into the Wade‐Mingos rules. By analyzing 74613 six‐vertex dicarboranes, the trigonal‐bipyrimidal isomer dominates at 89.1%, compared to the octagedron at 9.1%, providing a new platform for cluster design.

Ungulate prey availability to inform Mexican wolf recovery within its historical range

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 2, February 2026.
We estimated the potential ecological carrying capacity for the Mexican wolf based exclusively on ungulate prey biomass estimated from camera trap surveys. In the United States, the potential density estimate is high (21.4–52.7 wolves/1,000 km2) owing to the presence and relatively high densities of elk, mule deer, and white‐tailed deer.

Sind i‐Motiv‐Strukturen in DNA kompatibel mit Cytosin–Ag(I)–Cytosin‐Basenpaaren?

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
