Phosphorylation of NM23/Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase by Casein Kinase 2 in Vitro

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1994
We have investigated phosphorylation of human nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) and of homologous NDPK from different species by human casein kinase 2 (CK-2). The human NDPK isotypes A and B were phosphorylated by CK-2 in vitro both when the purified proteins and total lysate of HL-60 leukemia cells were used. The homologous NDPK's from Yeast and E.

Role for casein kinase 2 in the regulation of HIF‐1 activity

International Journal of Cancer, 2005
AbstractHypoxia‐inducible factor‐1 (HIF‐1) is a heterodimeric transcription factor that plays a major role in cellular adaptation to hypoxia. The mechanisms regulating HIF‐1 activity occurs at multiple levels in vivo. The HIF‐1α subunit is highly sensible to oxygen and is rapidly degraded by the proteasome 26S in normoxia.

Casein kinase 2 inactivation by Mg2+, Mn2+ and Co2+ ions

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1995
Mg2+ as well as Mn2+, and Co2+, which may substitute Mg2+ in the mental ion requirement of casein kinase 2 (Gatica et al., FEBS Lett: 315:173-173, 1993), have been repeatedly reported to display an optimal concentration at which activity of casein kinase 2 is maximal.

Modulators of rat liver cytosol casein kinases 1 and 2

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1982
Abstract Rat liver cytosol casein kinases 1 and 2 are similarly activated by spermine and inhibited by caffeine. On the contrary they are differently affected by heparin and basic proteins. Low concentrations of heparin inhibited selectively the phosphorylation of casein by casein kinase 2 whereas protamine and histones inhibited specifically casein ...

Insulin receptor serine kinase activation by casein kinase 2 and a membrane tyrosine kinase

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1993
The insulin receptor (IR) tyrosine kinase can apparently directly phosphorylate and activate one or more serine kinases. The identities of such serine kinases and their modes of activation are still unclear. We have described a serine kinase (here designated insulin receptor serine (IRS) kinase) from rat liver membranes that co-purifies with IR on ...

A novel synthetic substrate for casein kinase 2.

Biochemistry international, 1990
The nonapeptide DTDSEEEIR, corresponding to amino acid residues 78-86 of calmodulin, was synthesized, and its kinetics of phosphorylation by casein kinase 2 was examined. In the presence of 4 microM polylysine, the phosphorylation rate by casein kinase 2 was 16 times greater than that of synthetic substrate peptide RRREEETEEE reported previously, and ...
