Caffeine is one of the most widely consumed substances found in beverages, and has demonstrated anticancer effects in several types of cancer. The present study aimed to examine the anticancer effects of caffeine on gastric cancer (GC) cells (MGC-803 and

Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Effective description of bistability and irreversibility in apoptosis [PDF]
Apoptosis is a mechanism of programmed cell death in which cells engage in a controlled demolition and prepare to be digested without damaging their environment. In normal conditions apoptosis is repressed, until it is irreversibly induced by an appropriate signal.

The F0 V star 9 Aur A exhibits an irregular variability of amplitude $\approx $0.1 magnitude at optical wavelengths. The variations are too slow for it to be a $\delta$ Scuti-type star. There is no evidence for a close, interacting companion or ring of dust, either from infrared, ultraviolet, or speckle data.

Exit of cytochrome c from mitochondria into the cytosol has been implicated as an important step in apoptosis. In the cytosol, cytochrome c binds to the CED-4 homologue, Apaf-1, thereby triggering Apaf-1–mediated activation of caspase-9.

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

The Apaf-1 apoptosome induces formation of caspase-9 homo- and heterodimers with distinct activities
According to dogma, initiator caspases are activated through proximity-induced homodimerization, but some studies infer that during apoptosis caspase-9 may instead form a holoenzyme with the Apaf-1 apoptosome.

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

CASPASE DEPENDENT APOPTOSIS INDUCED BY CLADRIBINE IN THE ESTROGEN RECEPTOR NEGATIVE BREAST CANCER CELL LINE, MDA-MB468 [PDF]
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the cytotoxicity/apoptotic effect of 2-chloro-2′-deoxyadenosine, cladribine, (2-CdA) in the human breast cancer cell line, MDA-MB468 (estrogen receptor negative, ER−). MTT [3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,

Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.
