Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Co-Mn-Al mixed oxides promoted by K for direct NO decomposition: Effect of preparation parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fundamental research on direct NO decomposition is still needed for the design of a sufficiently active, stable and selective catalyst. Co-based mixed oxides promoted by alkali metals are promising catalysts for direct NO decomposition, but which ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Decoration of Pt–Ni Alloy on Molten Salt Etched Halloysite Nanotubes for Enhanced Catalytic Reduction of 4-Nitrophenol

open access: yesSeparations
Efficient and low-cost nanocatalysts are extremely desirable for the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). A smaller nanocatalyst particle size and stronger support effect can significantly enhance the catalytic performance.

The stochastic quasi-steady-state assumption: Reducing the model but not the noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Highly reactive species at small copy numbers play an important role in many biological reaction networks. We have described previously how these species can be removed from reaction networks using stochastic quasi-steady-state singular perturbation ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

AuNPs-Based Thermoresponsive Nanoreactor as an Efficient Catalyst for the Reduction of 4-Nitrophenol

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
A new AuNPs-based thermosensitive nanoreactor (SiO2@PMBA@Au@PNIPAM) was designed and prepared by stabilizing AuNPs in the layer of poly(N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide) (PMBA) and subsequent wrapping with the temperature-sensitive poly(N ...
