Detection of cathepsin L‐like proteinase and cathepsin D in gingival fluid

Journal of Periodontal Research, 1986
Intracellular proteinases play an important role in normal and pathological degradative processes. The contribution of cysteine proteinases in connective tissue breakdown is known, but their activity in the inflammatory process of periodontal disease received only limited attention. Gingival fluid was collected from eight female patients with different

Distinct Roles of Cathepsin K and Cathepsin L IN Osteoclastic Bone Resorption

Endocrine Research, 2000
The role of cathepsin K (CAK), cloned as a novel collagenolytic cysteine protease (CCP), cathepsin L (CAL) and cathepsin B (CAB) in bone resorption was investigated. In mouse calvarial organ culture medium, CAL, detected in trace amounts in control conditions, and CCP activity were increased by stimulants of bone resorption: 1alpha,25-(OH)2D3 ...

Comparative substrate specificity analysis of recombinant human cathepsin V and cathepsin L

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2004
Cathepsins V and L have high identity and few structural differences. In this paper, we reported a comparative study of the hydrolytic activities of recombinant human cathepsins V and L using fluorescence resonance energy transfer peptides derived from Abz-KLRSSKQ-EDDnp (Abz = ortho-aminobenzoic acid and EDDnp = N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)ethylenediamine ...

Rat liver thiol proteinases: cathepsin B, cathepsin H and cathepsin L.

Acta biologica et medica Germanica, 1982
Data on following points of lysosomal thiol proteinases (cathepsins B, H and L) from rat liver are described in this paper: Partial amino acid sequence of cathepsin B, substrate specificity of cathepsin L, immunological studies of cathepsin B and H and effectiveness of E-64, specific thiol proteinase inhibitor in vivo.

Improved trypanocidal activities of cathepsin L inhibitors

International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, 2003
The major lysosomal cysteine proteinase of African trypanosomes is a candidate target for novel chemotherapy of sleeping sickness. This cathepsin L-like enzyme is termed rhodesain and brucipain in Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense and Trypanosoma brucei brucei, respectively.

Cathepsin L and Cathepsin B3 from Rat Liver Lysosomes

1977
At the first symposium on „Protein catabolism“ we mentioned our intentions to detect ail soluble proteinases in rat liver lysosomes, which are active at pH 6–7 under in vitro conditions.

Rat brain cathepsin L: Characterization and differentiation from cathepsin B utilizing opioid peptides

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1987
The specificity of purified rat brain cathepsin L (EC 3.4.22.15) was mapped by the use of synthetic and opioid peptides and some properties were compared to rat brain cathepsin B, rat kidney cathepsin L, and bovine spleen cathepsin C. Brain and kidney cathepsin L cleaved leucine or methionine enkephalin (LE or ME) at the Gly-Gly bond to release Tyr-Gly

Cathepsin D and Cathepsin L Activities in Aortic Aneurysm Wall and Parietal Thrombus

cclm, 1998
Abstract Deterioration of the aortic wall resulting in formation of aneurysms may be caused by increased activity of metalloproteases and lysosomal proteases. The aim of this work was the evaluation of cathepsin D and cathepsin L activities, and activities of inhibitors of cysteine cathepsins in the wall of aortic aneurysms and in ...

Prognostic Impact of Cysteine Proteases Cathepsin B and Cathepsin L in Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

Pancreas, 2004
The cysteine proteases cathepsin B (CTSB) and L (CTSL) have been implicated in tumor spread and metastatic formation. In pancreatic adenocarcinoma, the role of these proteases is not very well defined. To find out which cell types produce CTSB and CTSL and to evaluate the prognostic impact of these proteases, 70 specimens from curatively resected ...

Neutralization of the activity of a Fasciola hepatica cathepsin L proteinase by anti‐cathepsin L antibodies

Parasite Immunology, 1994
SUMMARYFasciola hepatica secretes a cathepsin L proteinase that is suggested to play an in vivo role in immunoprotection since the enzyme can cleave host immunoglobulin. In the present report, rabbit anti‐cathepsin L IgG was shown to bind to the cathepsin L enzyme and inhibit its ability to cleave IgG molecules.
