The Affinity of the Organic Cation Transporter rOCT1 Is Increased by Protein Kinase C-Dependent Phosphorylation [PDF]
Abstract. Members of the organic cation transporter (OCT) family are mainly expressed in kidney, liver, intestine, and brain. The regulation of the OCT type 1 from rat (rOCT1) stably transfected in HEK293 cells was examined using a fluorimetric technique, 1-[3H]methyl-4-phenylpyridinium uptake studies, and fast-whole-cell patch-

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Proton-Coupled Electron Flow in Protein Redox Machines [PDF]
Electron transfer (ET) reactions are fundamental steps in biological redox processes. Respiration is a case in point: at least 15 ET reactions are required to take reducing equivalents from NADH, deposit them in O_2, and generate the electrochemical ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Dissecting the Molecular Mechanism of Nucleotide-Dependent Activation of the KtrAB K+ Transporter.
KtrAB belongs to the Trk/Ktr/HKT superfamily of monovalent cation (K+ and Na+) transport proteins that closely resemble K+ channels. These proteins underlie a plethora of cellular functions that are crucial for environmental adaptation in plants, fungi ...

Interactions of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors with Organic Cation Transporters and Multidrug and Toxic Compound Extrusion Proteins [PDF]
Abstract The drug–drug interaction (DDI) potential of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) as interacting drugs via transporter inhibition has not been fully assessed. Here, we estimated the half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values for 8 small-molecule TKIs (imatinib, dasatinib, nilotinib, gefitinib, erlotinib, sunitinib ...

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
