Comparative hydrogeochemical characteristics of Tyumen geothermal highly mineralized waters

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Нефть и газ
This article focuses on the contemporary problem of assessing of the geochemical composition features of high-mineralized geothermal waters from the Tyumen region in comparison with the mineral waters of thermal springs from the Caucasus, Eastern Siberia,

Oligonucleotide analogues with cationic backbone linkages

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
Their unique ability to selectively bind specific nucleic acid sequences makes oligonucleotides promising bioactive agents. However, modifications of the nucleic acid structure are an essential prerequisite for their application in vivo or even in ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Could Life Have Started on Mars? Planetary Conditions That Assemble and Destroy Protocells

open access: yesLife
Early Mars was likely habitable, but could life actually have started there? While cellular life emerged from prebiotic chemistry through a pre-Darwinian selection process relevant to both Earth and Mars, each planet posed unique selection ‘hurdles’ to ...

Cold tolerance, water relations and accumulation of osmolytes in Bituminaria bituminosa

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2010
We determined the cold (freezing) tolerance of five Spanish populations of the perennial shrub Bituminaria bituminosa (L.) C.H. Stirton (Fabaceae), as the temperature at which 50 % of leaf electrolytes are released (LT50) using leaves of field-grown ...

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Assessment of soil salinity and environmental factors in the Kesem irrigation scheme, Afar Region, Ethiopia

open access: yesSoil and Water Research
Soil salinity is a growing problem for agricultural production in irrigated areas of arid and semi-arid regions. The extent of salinity levels has not been fully studied in the Kesem irrigation scheme in Ethiopia's Afar region. The objective of the study

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
