Transcriptional profiling reveals developmental relationship and distinct biological functions of CD16+ and CD16- monocyte subsets [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2009
Human peripheral blood monocytes (Mo) consist of subsets distinguished by expression of CD16 (FCgammaRIII) and chemokine receptors. Classical CD16- Mo express CCR2 and migrate in response to CCL2, while a minor CD16+ Mo subset expresses CD16 and CX3CR1 and migrates into tissues expressing CX3CL1.

Human CD16+ and CD16– monocyte subsets display unique effector properties in inflammatory conditions in vivo [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Leukocyte Biology, 2011
ABSTRACTTwo major subsets of human Mo are identified based on CD14 and CD16 expression: the classical CD16– Mo and the minor CD14+CD16+ Mo. In vitro studies suggested distinct function and differentiation potential for each cell population. However, the in vivo relevance of these findings remains unclear.

CD14 and CD16 expression in noninfectious granulomatous skin diseases

open access: yesJournal of Cutaneous Immunology and Allergy, 2020
Objectives Peripheral blood monocytes are categorized as classical (CD14++/CD16−) or nonclassical (CD14−/CD16+ and CD14+/CD16+) based on their CD14 expression and CD16 expression. Maturation of classical monocytes produces CD14+/CD16+ macrophages.

Phenotype and functions of human dendritic cells derived from CD14+ monocyte subsets opposed to CD16 expression [PDF]

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2019
The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between monocyte subpopulations and phenotype/ functions of monocyte-derived dendritic cells (DCs), as well as DC sensitivity to the tolerogenic effect of dexamethasone.Materials and methods. The study

TGFβ Is Specifically Upregulated on Circulating CD14++ CD16+ and CD14+ CD16++ Monocytes in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and Severe Atrial Fibrosis [PDF]

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Fibrotic remodeling of the atria plays a key role in the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF). As little is known about the contribution of circulating monocytes in atrial remodeling and the pathophysiology of AF, we investigated ...

Blood monocyte subtypes in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis infection

open access: yesAl-Azhar Assiut Medical Journal, 2022
Background and aim Monocytes are the primary target for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Important alterations in the proportions of circulating monocyte subpopulations were found in patients with active tuberculosis (aTB).

Low number of KIR ligands in lymphoma patients favors a good rituximab-dependent NK cell response

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2021
The antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) effector function of natural killer (NK) cells is one of the known mechanisms of action for rituximab-based anti-cancer immunotherapy.

Quantitative whole-cell MALDI-TOF MS fingerprints distinguishes human monocyte sub-populations activated by distinct microbial ligands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Conventionally, human monocyte sub-populations are classified according to surface marker expression into classical (CD14(++)CD16(-)), intermediate (CD14(++)CD16(+)) and non-classical (CD14(+)CD16(++)) lineages. The involvement of non-classical monocytes,
