Depletion of the RNA‐Editing Enzyme ADAR1 Invigorates the Antitumor Immunity of NK Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ADAR1 is upregulated in NK cells from melanoma patients, impairing their function. Its loss enhances NK cell tumor infiltration and cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, ADAR1 deficiency destabilizes CD38 mRNA to reduce its expression, thereby increasing NK cell mobility and killing, which nominates it as a therapeutic target for NK cell ...

Information Preserving Component Analysis: Data Projections for Flow Cytometry Analysis

open access: yes, 2008
Flow cytometry is often used to characterize the malignant cells in leukemia and lymphoma patients, traced to the level of the individual cell. Typically, flow cytometric data analysis is performed through a series of 2-dimensional projections onto the ...

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Itch‐induced tick removal (IITR): An acquired neuroimmune mechanism, itch‐induced tick removal, develops after repeated tick exposure, mobilizing T cells and macrophages at the tick bite site to trigger a rapid scratching response that facilitates timely tick removal within a critical window that preces the transmission of many tick‐borne pathogens ...

Targeting PRKCN, an Essential Driver Orchestrating mTOR‐IRF4 Axis Independently of Kinase Activity, in Multiple Myeloma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Constitutive PRKCN expression is driven by super‐enhancers and modulated by NF‐κB signaling in multiple myeloma (MM). PRKCN activates mTORC1/2‐IRF4 signaling axis and favors tumor cell growth independently of its kinase activity. IRF4 reciprocally promotes PRKCN transcription, creating a feed‐forward loop.

Preclinical anti-tumour activity of HexaBody-CD38, a next-generation CD38 antibody with superior complement-dependent cytotoxic activityResearch in context

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2023
Summary: Background: HexaBody®-CD38 (GEN3014) is a hexamerization-enhanced human IgG1 that binds CD38 with high affinity. The E430G mutation in its Fc domain facilitates the natural process of antibody hexamer formation upon binding to the cell surface,

CD38 as a Therapeutic Target [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Medicine, 2006
The CD38 molecule is well represented on cell surfaces in many cases of a variety of lymphoid tumors, notably multiple myeloma, AIDS-associated lymphomas, and post-transplant lymphoproliferations. As such, this molecule is a promising target for antibody therapy.

Integrative Approaches to Treating Cellular Senescence in Kidney Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cellular senescence in the kidney plays a crucial role in the progression of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. Therapeutic approaches targeting senescent cells, such as small molecule senolytic and senomorphic drugs, display efficacy in preclinical models.

Roles of CD38 in the Immune Response to Infection

open access: yesCells, 2020
CD38 is a multifunctional protein widely expressed in cells from the immune system and as a soluble form in biological fluids. CD38 expression is up-regulated by an array of inflammatory mediators, and it is frequently used as a cell activation marker ...
