Entrance to the multifaceted world of CD4+ T cell subsets

open access: yesExploration of Immunology
This review provides a detailed examination of CD4+ T lymphocyte subsets, crucial components of the immune system originating from the thymus. This study explores the distinct roles and mechanisms of various T helper (Th) cell subsets, including Th1, Th2,

Complete Multilineage CD4 Expression Defect Associated With Warts Due to an Inherited Homozygous CD4 Gene Mutation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Idiopathic T-CD4 lymphocytopenia (ICL) is a rare and heterogeneous syndrome characterized by opportunistic infections due to reduced CD4 T-lymphocytes (<300 cells/μl or <20% T-cells) in the absence of HIV infection and other primary causes of ...

Disruption of Treg Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis via Ferroptosis‐Mediated ETC Collapse and TXK‐STAT3/PLCγ1 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rheumatoid arthritis, synovial Tregs accumulate but are functionally impaired due to iron overload‐induced ferroptosis. This triggers mitochondrial dysfunction and TXK tyrosine kinase‐mediated signaling, leading to Treg destabilization and inflammation.

Evidence of vitamin D deficiency in mediating disease progression among people living with human immunodeficiency virus: a narrative review

open access: yesHIV & AIDS Review. International Journal of HIV-Related Problems
Advances in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) diagnosis and management have increased life expectancy of HIV-infected individuals. However, despite rising quality of life among HIV patients, maintaining nutritional health and depending on antiretroviral

Engineering Immunoregenerative Therapy via an Immunomodulatory Binary Pharmacology Hydrogel Depot for Prolonged Allograft Survival

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An immunomodulatory hydrogel (iGEL) forms spontaneously upon subcutaneous injection, acting as a tissue‐adhesive depot. It releases anti‐rejection and regenerative agents in response to inflammation, suppressing T‐cell activity, promoting vascular repair, and restoring allograft function without systemic immunosuppression.

Decreased proportions of CD4 + IL17+/CD4 + CD25 + CD127− and CD4 + IL17+/CD4 + CD25 + CD127 − FoxP3+ T cells in children with autoimmune thyroid diseases

open access: yesAutoimmunity, 2016
Until now, altered balance of Th1 and Th2 immune cells has been postulated to play an important role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITD). However, recent studies on thyroid diseases have suggested a new role for Th17 cells that have been classified as a new lineage, distinct from Th1, Th2 and Treg cells. Despite wide interest, the

Pharmacologic Modulation of ARID3A with Rimegepant Reactivates Type I Interferon Signaling and Sensitizes Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer to PD‐1 Blockade

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARID3A as a key immunosuppressive transcription factor in TNBC. Its inhibition activates the type I IFN pathway, boosting CD8+ T cell infiltration and sensitizing tumors to anti‐PD‐1. The FDA‐approved migraine drug Rimegepant targets ARID3A, enhances immunotherapy efficacy in preclinical models, and establishes a druggable axis to

Endogenous human cytomegalovirus gB is efficiently presented by MHC class II molecules to CD4+ CTL

open access: yes, 2005
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infects endothelial, epithelial, and glial cells in vivo. These cells can express MHC class II proteins, but are unlikely to play important roles in priming host immunity.

Correlation of memory T cell responses against TRAP with protection from clinical malaria, and CD4+ CD25high T cells with susceptibility in Kenyans

open access: yes, 2008
Background - Immunity to malaria develops naturally in endemic regions, but the protective immune mechanisms are poorly understood. Many vaccination strategies aim to induce T cells against diverse pre-erythrocytic antigens, but correlates of protection ...

T regulatory cells in cord blood--FOXP3 demethylation as reliable quantitative marker [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Regulatory T-cells (Tregs), characterized as CD4+CD25(hi) T-cells expressing FOXP3, play a crucial role in controlling healthy immune development during early immune maturation. Recently, FOXP3 demethylation was suggested to be a novel marker for natural
