Analysis of thrombocyte development in CD41-GFP transgenic zebrafish

open access: yesBlood, 2005
Thrombocytes are the nucleated equivalent of platelets in nonmammalian vertebrates such as the zebrafish, Danio rerio. We have cloned zebrafish CD41 cDNA (αIIb, glycoprotein IIb [GPIIb]) and its promoter and have generated transgenic zebrafish lines with green fluorescent protein (GFP)–tagged thrombocytes.

Expression of CD41 marks the initiation of definitive hematopoiesis in the mouse embryo

Blood, 2003
Murine hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) originate from mesoderm in a process that requires the transcription factor SCL/Tal1. To define steps in the commitment to blood cell fate, we compared wild-type and SCL−/− embryonic stem cell differentiation in vitro and identified CD41 (GpIIb) as the earliest surface marker missing from SCL−/− embryoid bodies ...

Platelet activation studies with CD41/61 monoclonal antibodies

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1996
The purpose of this study was to monitor platelet activation by following alpha IIb beta 3 integrin (GpIIb/IIIa complex or CD41/CD61) on the platelet surface by flow cytometry (FCM) analysis using workshop mAbs. The results obtained with the mAbs showed increased expression of the GpIIb/IIIa complex (about 40%) on the platelet membrane surface under ...

Expression of CD41 on hematopoietic progenitors derived from embryonic hematopoietic cells

Development (Cambridge), 2002
In this study, we have characterized the early steps of hematopoiesis during embryonic stem cell differentiation. The immunophenotype of hematopoietic progenitor cells derived from murine embryonic stem cells was determined using a panel of monoclonal antibodies specific for hematopoietic differentiation antigens.

CD34+, CD41+acute megakaryoblastic leukemia in a dog

Veterinary Clinical Pathology, 2007
AbstractA clinically normal, 5‐year‐old intact female German Shepherd dog was presented to the local veterinarian to be spayed. Results of a preoperative CBC included mild nonregenerative anemia, severe thrombocytopenia, and 17% unclassified cells.

Catfish Thrombocytes Express an Integrin-like CD41/CD61 Complex

Experimental Cell Research, 1997
A thrombocyte-specific antigen was identified in two closely related catfish, Ictalurus punctatus and Ictalurus furcatus, by monoclonal antibodies 4-20 and 7-2. The antibodies immunoprecipitate two noncovalently associated glycoprotein chains of Mr 180,000 and Mr 95,000.

Cord blood in vitro expanded CD41+ cells: identification of novel components of megakaryocytopoiesis

Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2006
Megakaryopoiesis represents a multi-step, often unclear, process leading to commitment, differentiation, and maturation of megakaryocytes (MKs) that release platelets. To identify the novel genes that might help to clarify the molecular mechanisms of megakaryocytopoiesis and be regarded as potential candidates of inherited platelet defects, global gene ...

CD41+ extracellular vesicles produced by avian thrombocytes contain microRNAs

Genes to Cells, 2023
AbstractAvians have thrombocytes in their blood circulation rather than mammalian platelets. However, many details of thrombocyte characteristics have not been determined. Here, chicken thrombocytes were isolated, and extracellular vesicle (EV) production was investigated. The thrombocyte‐specific markers cd41 and cd61 were expressed in the yolk sac at

Newly Exposed Membrane Glycoprotein II β (CD41) on Activated Platelets has Higher Affinity for Plasma Fibrinogen that Blocks Anti-CD41 Binding

International Blood Research & Reviews, 2015
The density of glycoprotein receptors on platelet membrane is dynamic and increase upon platelet activation by various stimulants to facilitate more ligand binding and functional outcome. Since CD41/61 receptor complex is responsible for platelet to platelet cross-linking, infusion of antagonists/antibodies against these molecules is considered an ...

CD41 immune staining of micromegakaryocytes improves the diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome and differentiation from pancytopenia

Leukemia Research, 2018
A morphometric analysis was performed on aspirated clots of bone marrow to identify the presence of micromegakaryocytes after immune staining with a monoclonal antibody raised against CD41. Quantitative and qualitative abnormalities of micromegakaryocytes were assessed based on both standard staining and CD41 immune staining.
