Different expression of CD41 on human lymphoid and myeloid progenitors from adults and neonates
Blood, 2001Abstract The glycoprotein (Gp) IIb/IIIa integrin, also called CD41, is the platelet receptor for fibrinogen and several other extracellular matrix molecules. Recent evidence suggests that its expression is much wider in the hematopoietic system than was previously thought.

Novel Murine Model of Immune Thrombocytopaenia through Immunized CD41 Knockout Mice
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2019AbstractImmune thrombocytopaenia (ITP) is the most common autoimmune bleeding disorder, where platelets are destroyed by auto-antibodies and/or cell-mediated mechanisms. To understand the pathogenesis of ITP and explore novel therapeutics, three types of animal models have been used: passive ITP, secondary ITP and platelet-induced ITP.

GPIIb (CD41) integrin is expressed on mast cells and influences their adhesion properties
Experimental Hematology, 2005GPIIb integrin expression has been found on platelets and megakaryocytes, and more recently on immature hematopoietic progenitors. We set out to investigate expression of GPIIb in other hematopoietic cell lineages and, having detected it on mast cells, aimed to determine what possible role it might perform. We have made use of cultured human and murine ...

Recurrent airway obstruction (RAO) is an allergic disease of horses similar to human asthma, which is characterized by airway inflammation and activation of neutrophils, lymphocytes and platelets. Platelet activation and an increase in circulating platelet-leukocyte aggregates may lead to airway remodeling.

Expression of CD41 on CD34+ primitive yolk sac hematopoietic progenitors
Experimental Hematology, 2000Abstract The phenotype of primitive hematopoietic cells varies during murine ontogeny. CD41 is an integrin alpha chain involved in platelet aggregation and generally considered a platelet lineage marker. Recently, CD41 has been identified as a cell surface marker of primitive hematopoietic cells in the chick.

CD41 expression marks myeloid-biased adult hematopoietic stem cells and increases with age
Blood, 2013Key PointsIntegrin CD41, thought to absent on adult HSCs, marks a novel subset of myeloid-biased long-term HSCs that becomes prevalent with age. Loss of CD41 leads to transplantable hematopoietic defects that affect HSC survival and maintenance and are, in part, mediated by platelet loss.

Calcium rise in human platelets elicited by anti-CD9 and -CD41 murine monoclonal antibodies
Thrombosis Research, 1989Three murine monoclonal antibodies (anti-CD9: ALB6, anti-CD41: VI-PL3 and PL2-49/GPIIb - final concentration: 7.5 micrograms/mL) are shown to elicit after a lag time aggregation of washed platelets and a calcium signal (as detected by light emitted by loaded aequorin), which is only partially inhibited by aspirin.

Human gpIIb‐IIIa or CD41/CD61 is a Ca2+‐complex dependent heterodimer, abundant on platelets, that plays a key role in hemostasis. This report describes a murine monoclonal antibody, JM2E5, able to recognize and immunoprecipitate the gpIIb/IIIa surface glycoprotein from porcine platelets.

Fibroblastic Potential of CD41 + Cells in the Mouse Aorta-Gonad-Mesonephros Region and Yolk Sac
Stem Cells and Development, 2012CD41 (αIIb integrin), a specific marker for megakaryocytes and platelets, was recently shown to mark the initiation of definitive hematopoiesis in mouse embryos. However, whether embryonic CD41 + populations have a nonhematopoietic potential remains elusive. Here, we report that the CD41

The aim of this study is to clarify the transitional change of the proliferation and differentiation of human peripheral blood CD34+ cells to megakaryocytic lineage, focusing on its clinical application. We developed a rapid system to purify human peripheral blood CD34+ cells from healthy volunteers, which produced CD34+ cells with a 90% purity.
