WNT signaling regulates self-renewal and differentiation of prostate cancer cells with stem cell characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Prostate cancer cells with stem cell characteristics were identified in human prostate cancer cell lines by their ability to form from single cells self-renewing prostaspheres in non-adherent cultures.

Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor induces the migration of non-resident cells to intracerebral hemorrhage

open access: yesZaporožskij Medicinskij Žurnal, 2023
The aim of the study is to determine the effect of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rHuG-CSF) on the migration of non-resident cells into the region of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), which can potentially be considered as mesenchymal stem cells.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

FAK Deficiency in Bone Marrow Stromal Cells Alters Their Homeostasis and Drives Abnormal Proliferation and Differentiation of Haematopoietic Stem Cells

open access: yesCells, 2020
Emerging evidence indicates that in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), the bone marrow (BM) microenvironment may also contribute to the ineffective, malignant haematopoiesis in addition to the intrinsic abnormalities of haematopoietic stem precursor cells (

Hyaluronan and Hyaluronidase, which is better for embryo development? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Our aim was to examine size-specific effects of Hyaluronan (HA) on preimplantation embryo development. We investigated the effects of Hyalovet (HA, 500–750 kDa; the size produced by HA synthase-3, which is abundant in the oviduct), or HA treated with ...
