Understanding the role of CD44V6 in ovarian cancer

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2017
This study examined the association of CD44V6 expression in ovarian cancer. We recruited 38 patients with ovarian cancer, 23 with benign ovarian tumor, and 20 with normal ovaries using RT-PCR and western block analysis. Compared with normal ovaries, the expression of CD44V6 mRNA was significantly elevated in benign ovarian tumor and ovarian cancer.

Musashi2 contributes to the maintenance of CD44v6+ liver cancer stem cells via notch1 signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2019
Background Liver cancer stem cells (LCSCs) contribute to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development, metastasis, and drug resistance. MSI2 and Notch1 signaling are involved in the maintenance of CSCs.

CD44v6-O-MWNTS-Loaded Gemcitabine and CXCR4 siRNA Improves the Anti-tumor Effectiveness of Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignancies of the female reproductive system and the deadliest gynecologic cancer. CXCR4 is expressed in a variety of malignant tumors such as breast, prostate, and ovarian cancers. It is also closely related to

A comparative evaluation of collagen in ameloblastoma and oral squamous cell carcinoma using picrosirius red staining with polarizing microscopy and CD44v6 immunoreactivity

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2023
Background: Solid multicystic ameloblastoma (SMA) is a locally aggressive, benign odontogenic tumor of odontogenic origin with greater rate of recurrence.

Expression of Bmi-1, P16, and CD44v6 in Uterine Cervical Carcinoma and Its Clinical Signifcance

open access: yesCancer Biology & Medicine, 2012
Objective Bmi-1, a putative proto-oncogene, is a core member of the polycomb gene family, which is expressed in many human tumors. The p16 protein negatively regulated cell proliferation, whereas CD44v6 is associated with proliferation as an important ...

CD44v6 is not a prognostic factor in primary breast cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 1998
CD44 is an adhesion molecule and represents a highly variable family of isoforms. The isoform CD44v6 has been associated with metastasis formation and poor prognosis in animal models and human colon cancer. Results of studies in primary breast cancer are relatively small and contradictory. The immunohistochemical expression of CD44v6 was studied in a ...

IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL EXPRESSION OF CD44V6 AND P53 STATUS IN BORDERLINE AND MALIGNANT OVARIAN SURFACE EPITHELIAL TUMORS. A CLINICO-PATHOLOGIC STUDY

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Background:Ovarian epithelial cancer is a leading cause of death among gynecological malignancies due mainly to advanced stage at presentation. Objectives:To investigate the expression of CD44v6 and p53 in borderline tumors and malignant ovarian surface

Inhibition of Moesin and CD44 in stem cell‐derived neurons affects the pathological genetic signature associated with Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Post mortem proteomic analysis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) brain tissue has identified novel target genes and proteins for potential therapeutic development. Moesin (MSN) and CD44 were identified as candidate targets. Using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)‐derived neurons, we assayed how reducing gene expression of ...

Promising Noninvasive Cellular Phenotype in Prostate Cancer Cells Knockdown of Matrix Metalloproteinase 9

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Cell surface interaction of CD44 and MMP9 increases migration and invasion of PC3 cells. We show here that stable knockdown of MMP9 in PC3 cells switches CD44 isoform expression from CD44s to CD44v6 which is more glycosylated.
