The Impact of Complement Factor H‐Related Protein Gene Deletions on Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Immunology, Volume 102, Issue 6, December 2025.
In this study, we found that rs7542235 allele G tags a deletion of the CFHR1 gene. We also found that rs6677604 allele A tags a deletion of the whole CFHR3–1 locus. The plasma proteomics studies show that both variants are associated with an altered expression of FH/FHR proteins thus revealing a novel level of intricate regulation of the complement ...

CD46 Protects against Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema develops in 15% of ex-smokers despite sustained quitting, while 10% are free of emphysema or severe lung obstruction. The cause of the incapacity of the immune system to clear the inflammation in the first group remains unclear. We searched genes that were protecting ex-smokers without emphysema, using

Anti-Neu5Gc and anti-non-Neu5Gc antibodies in healthy humans. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Our group previously investigated the levels of anti-Gal and anti-nonGal IgM and IgG in a cohort of 75 healthy humans of various backgrounds, and found some significant differences related to factors such as age, gender, ABO blood group, diet ...

New insights into applications of base editor in hereditary disorders

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, Volume 3, Issue 6, November 2025.
Abstract Hereditary disorders are a group of diseases caused by genetic mutations or chromosomal variations. Although the incidence of each genetic disorder is relatively low, patients affected by the disease generally experience a range of severe symptoms, including blindness, disability, and even premature death. In addition, the available treatments

Adenovirus 11p downregulates CD46 early in infection

open access: yesVirology, 2010
Adenovirus 11 prototype (Ad11p), belonging to species B, uses CD46 as an attachment receptor. CD46, a complement regulatory molecule, is expressed on all human nucleated cells. We show here that Ad11p virions downregulate CD46 on the surface of K562 cells as early as 5min p.i.

Role of Seminal Exosomes in Reproduction

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 240, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Exosomes are small lipid bilayer vesicles, ranging from 30 to 150 nm in diameter, that are secreted by various cells and facilitate intercellular communication. They originate from the endosomal system and release their contents into the extracellular environment.

CD46‐induced human Treg enhance B‐cell responses [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, 2009
AbstractRegulatory CD4+ T cells (Treg) are important modulators of the immune response. Different types of Treg have been identified based on whether they are thymically derived (natural Treg) or induced in the periphery (adaptive Treg). We recently reported on an adaptive Treg phenotype that can be induced by the concomitant stimulation of human CD4 ...
