A PDMS-based disposable microfluidic sensor for CD4+ lymphocyte counting

Biomedical Microdevices, 2008
A refined sensor for CD4+ lymphocyte count was developed and evaluated by comparison to flow cytometry. The micropillar structured sensor surface was cast in PDMS polymer and surface modified to gain biocompatibility and CD4-cell capturing properties. The sensor works by pure capillary action and sample filling and rinsing is performed without external

Protracted cutaneous disorders in association with low CD4+ lymphocyte counts

British Journal of Dermatology, 1995
We report two patients with skin disorders usually associated with severe immunosuppression, who had low CD4+ lymphocyte counts but normal immunoglobulin levels. The patients were HIV negative, and had CD4+ lymphocyte counts just above 300/mm3, but they presented with cutaneous manifestations of profound immunodeficiency.

Bet 2: Estimating CD4+ counts from the absolute lymphocyte count in the ED

Emergency Medicine Journal, 2018
A 37-year-old patient who has never been to your hospital presents for shortness of breath. He reports a history of HIV but is not currently on treatment and does not know his last CD4+ count. His oxygen saturation is 94% on room air, and lung sounds are distant.

CD4+ T-Lymphocyte Counts in HIV Infection

Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes & Human Retrovirology, 1997
CD4+ lymphocyte count (CD4+ LC) is a widely used marker of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) immune impairment. Physiological lymphocytosis is frequently encountered in Africans. Therefore, we tried to determine if given CD4+ LC levels are of similar significance in European versus African HIV-infected individuals.

Modelling Progression of CD4-Lymphocyte Count and Its Relationship to Survival Time

Biometrics, 1994
The purpose of this article is to model the progression of CD4-lymphocyte count and the relationship between different features of this progression and survival time. The complicating factors in this analysis are that the CD4-lymphocyte count is observed only at certain fixed times and with a high degree of measurement error, and that the length of the

A STUDY ON TOTAL LYMPHOCYTE COUNT AND CD4 COUNT IN HIV AFFECTED PATIENTS

International Journal of Biological Studies, 2022
Purpose: The study aimed to assess the total lymphocyte count and CD4 count in HIV affected patients. Methodology: The approach we used in this study was to gather and analyze a wide range of research articles. Findings: Worldwide estimates of people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus was approximately 32 million in 2007 with ...

Is total lymphocyte count a reliable predictor of the CD4 lymphocyte cell count in resource-limited settings?

AIDS, 2004
Although the depletion of CD4 T cells remains the most reliable marker for estimating the degree of immunosuppression in HIV-1-infected individuals several authors have investigated the possible prognostic and predictive role offered by total lymphocyte count (TLC) as a surrogate of the CD4 cell count in resource-limited settings (RLS).

Total Lymphocyte Count as a Predictor of Absolute CD4+ Count and CD4+ Percentage in HIV-lnfected Persons

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1993
Objective. —To determine whether the total lymphocyte count (TLC) accurately predicts a low absolute CD4 + T-cell count and CD4 + percentage in persons infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Design. —Retrospective analysis of data collected in the US Air Force HIV Natural History Study. Setting.

CD4 lymphocyte count in HIV positive persons exposed to cryptococcus neo formans

Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, 1995
A report is presented on four HIV-positive homosexual men examined after several months of exposure during cleaning of a flat from masses of pigeon droppings heavily colonized by Cryptococcus neoformans. Only one out of the four persons, with a CD4 lymphocyte count of 50/microL, fell sick from systemic cryptococcosis, but not the others, with CD4 ...
