Intracerebral Hemorrhage Induces Monocyte TNF Signaling in Patients That Is Suppressed by BAF312

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) causes high morbidity and mortality, with neurotoxic inflammation driven by infiltrating monocytes. This study is an in‐depth longitudinal examination of the immune response during the first week of ICH in the presence and absence of the immunomodulatory drug BAF312 (Siponimod).

Near‐Infrared Light‐Activated Polydopamine Nanoparticles Conjugated With Transferrin Peptides for Enhanced Brain Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Tf‐PDA NPs combine a receptor‐mediated targeting with mild photothermal activation to enhance nanoparticle accumulation in the brain. NIR‐activated Tf‐PDA NPs increase BBB permeability to NPs in vitro and in vivo without inducing cytotoxicity or adverse immune responses.

Loss of CCR7 expression on CD56(bright) NK cells is associated with a CD56(dim)CD16⁺ NK cell-like phenotype and correlates with HIV viral load. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
NK cells are pivotal sentinels of the innate immune system and distinct subpopulations in peripheral blood have been described. A number of studies addressed HIV-induced alterations of NK cell phenotype and functionality mainly focusing on CD56(dim)CD16⁺

CD56+ B-cell Neurolymphomatosis in a Cat

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Pathology, 2019
A 16-year-old male Russian blue cat was presented with acute onset of paraparesis of the forelimbs that progressed to tetraparesis. Neurological examination revealed non-ambulatory tetraparesis with decreased postural reactions in all four limbs. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multifocal nerve root swelling on the right at C6/C7 and C7/T1, while ...

A Supramolecular Thermal Switch for Precision Pyroptosis via Host−Guest Recognition and Electrostatic Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A supramolecular pyroptotic thermal switch encapsulates I3− within β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) and undergoes CaCO3 mineralization. Upon lysosomal acidification, CaCO3 is degraded, releasing Ca2+ and I3−. Concurrently, BODIPY activation converts I3− into I2, inducing oxidative stress and Ca2+ overload, which together trigger caspase‐3/GSDME‐mediated ...

Phenotypes of CD56+ cells.

open access: yes, 2013
IL-2-activated CD56+ cells were isolated by EasySep human CD56 positive selection kit. They were examined for the expression of CD3, CD14, CD19 and CD56. Background control using isotype antibodies are also shown.
