CD61 enriches long-term repopulating hematopoietic stem cells
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2008Among the subsets that define hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), CD34- c-kit+ Sca-1+ lineage marker- (CD34-KSL) cells are regarded as one of the populations that have the highest enrichment of HSCs in adult mouse bone marrow. Here, we demonstrate that long-term repopulating hematopoietic stem cells (LTR-HSCs) have high expression of CD61 (integrin beta3)

Catfish Thrombocytes Express an Integrin-like CD41/CD61 Complex
Experimental Cell Research, 1997A thrombocyte-specific antigen was identified in two closely related catfish, Ictalurus punctatus and Ictalurus furcatus, by monoclonal antibodies 4-20 and 7-2. The antibodies immunoprecipitate two noncovalently associated glycoprotein chains of Mr 180,000 and Mr 95,000.

Immunohistochemical analysis of beta3 integrin (CD61): expression in pig tissues and human tumors.
Histology and histopathology, 2002CD61 is a membrane glycoprotein that associates with CD41 (alphaIIb) to form the heterodimeric complex gpIIb/IIIa (CD41/CD61), predominantly expressed in platelets and megakariocytes. CD61 or beta3 integrin also associates with alpha v (CD51) to form the vitronectin receptor, which is expressed in many tissues.

Human gpIIb‐IIIa or CD41/CD61 is a Ca2+‐complex dependent heterodimer, abundant on platelets, that plays a key role in hemostasis. This report describes a murine monoclonal antibody, JM2E5, able to recognize and immunoprecipitate the gpIIb/IIIa surface glycoprotein from porcine platelets.

CD34+ megakaryoblastic leukaemic cells are CD38−, but CD61+ and glycophorin A+: improved criteria for diagnosis of AML-M7? [PDF]
The aim of this flow cytometry study in acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia (AML-M7) was to describe the membrane phenotype of CD34+ progenitor subsets and compare these with the phenotypes expressed by other AML FAB types. Following conventional histopathological diagnosis mononuclear cells from bone marrow and blood were examined in seven patients with ...

CD61+ and CAF+ were found to be good prognosis factors for invasive breast cancer patients
Pathology Research and Practice, 2017During the epithelial tumor development process, changes in tumor cell genes are an important driving factor for tumorigenesis. Recently, however, studies have shown that the tumor microenvironment, especially for cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and the infiltration of platelets into tumors, plays an essential role in the progression of human ...

Introduction Neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT) due to maternal antibodies to the human platelet antigen (HPA)‐1a can occur in first pregnancies. The HPA‐1 polymorphism is located on platelet glycoprotein (GP)IIIa (CD61, beta3 integrin).

Integrins are heterodimeric cell adhesion molecules with major roles in a variety of biological processes ranging from cell migration to tissue organization, immune and non-immune defense mechanisms and oncogenic transformation. Members of the beta(3) integrin subfamily are composed of a beta(3) subunit (CD61) non-covalently associated with two alpha ...
