Cefotaxime desensitization [PDF]

open access: yesThe Clinical Investigator, 1993
We report the successful desensitization to cefotaxime in a patient with severe lumbar osteomyelitis of unknown bacteriology and hypersensitivity to the drug. Desensitization was carried out because of the unknown bacteriology, the favorable response to cefotaxime at that time, and hypersensitivity to other antibiotics.

Influence of Sub-Inhibitory Dosage of Cefotaxime on Multidrug Resistant Staphylococcus haemolyticus Isolated from Sick Neonatal Care Unit

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2022
Staphylococcus haemolyticus has emerged to be a frequently encountered late-onset sepsis pathogen among newborn infants. Critical care of neonates involves substantial usage of antibiotics and these pathogens are often exposed to sub-optimal doses of ...

Impact of Antibiotic Consumption on the Acquisition of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase Producing Enterobacterales Carriage during the COVID-19 Crisis in French Guiana

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2022
(1) Background: During the COVID-19 outbreak, several studies showed an increased prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase producing Enterobacterales (ESBL-PE) carriage in intensive care units (ICUs).

Cefotaxime and desacetyl cefotaxime in human bile [PDF]

open access: yesInfection, 1983
Ten patients were injected with 2 g cefotaxime i. v. The antibacterial activity in the bile was measured by the agar diffusion test and the concentrations of cefotaxime and desacetyl cefotaxime were determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The values found allow the use of cefotaxime in infectious biliary diseases.

Case Report: First Case of Cefotaxime-Sulbactam-Induced Acute Intravascular Hemolysis in a Newborn With ABO Blood Type Incompatibility by the Mechanism of Non-Immunologic Protein Adsorption

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
BackgroundABO blood type incompatibility hemolytic disease of newborn (ABO-HDN) and drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia (DIIHA) due to non-immunologic protein adsorption (NIPA) mainly cause extravascular hemolysis.

Spectrophotometric determination of some β-lactam antibiotics in their binary mixtures using the method of partial least squares [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Серия Химия. Биология. Экология, 2023
The method has been proposed for the spectrophotometric determination of antibiotics of the cephalosporin (cefuroxime, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, cefazolin) and penicillin (amoxicillin) groups using chemometric data processing (method of partial least ...

Droplet-based digital antibiotic susceptibility screen reveals single-cell clonal heteroresistance in an isogenic bacterial population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Since antibiotic resistance is a major threat to global health, recent observations that the traditional test of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) is not informative enough to guide effective antibiotic treatment are alarming.

Unveiling the Role of Nonionic Surfactants in Enhancing Cefotaxime Drug Solubility: A UV-Visible Spectroscopic Investigation in Single and Mixed Micellar Formulations

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2023
This study reports the interfacial phenomenon of cefotaxime in combination with nonionic surfactants, Triton X-100 (TX-100) and Tween-80 (TW-80), and their mixed micellar formulations.

Antibiotic residues and antibiotic-resistant bacteria in pig slurry used to fertilize agricultural fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Pig manure may contain antibiotic residues, antibiotic-resistant bacteria or pathogens, which may reach the environment upon fertilization. During this study, 69 antibiotic residues belonging to 12 classes were quantified in 89 pig slurry samples.
