In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Identifying a role for Ciz1 in the DNA damage response [PDF]
In proliferating cells, cell cycle arrest and DNA repair are induced upon detection of DNA damage. The DNA damage response (DDR) to double strand DNA breaks is mediated by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-like protein kinases (PIKKs), which propagate DDR ...

DNA packaging and polycation length determine DNA susceptibility to free radical damage in condensed DNA [PDF]
In nature, DNA exists primarily in a highly compacted form. The compaction of DNA in vivo is mediated by cationic proteins; histone in somatic nuclei and protamines in sperm chromatin.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

DNA replication licensing in somatic and germ cells [PDF]
The DNA replication (or origin) licensing system ensures precise duplication of the genome in each cell cycle and is a powerful regulator of cell proliferation in metazoa.

Donor-derived cell-free deoxyribonucleic acid (dd-cfDNA) is a promising noninvasive biomarker for monitoring organ transplant rejection and graft status as it is released into the recipient’s bloodstream due to graft injury, ischemia, or immune response.

: Assay of cell-free DNA in blood offers an approach to assessment of tumor DNA. We sought to determine whether Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA in cell-free blood is also a good surrogate for the presence of tumor DNA in children with Hodgkin lymphoma, as ...
