LR White is preferable to Unicryl for immunogold detection of fixationsensitive nuclear antigens
The purpose of this study was to compare two electron microscopy embedding media – LR White and Unicryl – with regard to cell morphologyical and immunohistochemical preservation properties for the study of fixation-sensitive nuclear antigens.

The dynamic landscape of the cell nucleus [PDF]
AbstractWhile the cell nucleus was described for the first time almost two centuries ago, our modern view of the nuclear architecture is primarily based on studies from the last two decades. This surprising late start coincides with the development of new, powerful strategies to probe for the spatial organization of nuclear activities in both fixed and

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Mapping of cell nuclei based on contour warping [PDF]
The dynamics of genome regions are associated to the functional or dysfunctional behaviour of the human cell. In order to study these dynamics it is necessary to remove all perturbations coming from movement and deformation of the nucleus, i.e.

The Emerging Roles of Heterochromatin in Cell Migration
Cell migration is a key process in health and disease. In the last decade an increasing attention is given to chromatin organization in migrating cells. In various types of cells induction of migration leads to a global increase in heterochromatin levels.

Decoding the dual role of autophagy in cancer through transcriptional and epigenetic regulation
Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls autophagy, which exerts context‐dependent effects on cancer: Autophagy suppresses tumorigenesis by maintaining cellular homeostasis or promotes tumor progression by supporting survival under stress. In this “In a Nutshell” article, we explore the intricate mechanisms of the dual function of autophagy ...

Cyclin B1/CDK1-regulated mitochondrial bioenergetics in cell cycle progression and tumor resistance. [PDF]
A mammalian cell houses two genomes located separately in the nucleus and mitochondria. During evolution, communications and adaptations between these two genomes occur extensively to achieve and sustain homeostasis for cellular functions and ...

The subthalamic nucleus : Part I: Development, cytology, topography and connections [PDF]
This monograph on the subthalamic nucleus accentuates in Part I the gap between experimental animal and human information concerning subthalamic development, cytology, topography and connections. The light and electron microscopical cytology concerns the
