Oxygenated cembranoids of the decaryiol type from the Indonesian soft coral Lobophytum sp. [PDF]
Three novel cembrane diterpenoids, decaryiols B-D (5-7), characterized by a bicyclic skeleton of the decaryiol-type, have been isolated from the Indonesian soft coral Lobophytum sp., along with three known cembranoids.

Abstract Three new cembranoids, dihydroplexaurolone (2) and two dehydroplexaurolones (3) and (4), have been isolated from the gorgonlan Plexaura A. The structure of 2 was established by X-ray crystallographic studies. Crystals of 2 belong to space group P21, with a = 10.711 (2) A, b = 10.976 (3) A, c = 17.148 (4) A, β = 99.99 (2)°, and Z = 4.

Cembranoids from Eunicea sp. enhance insulin-producing cells proliferation [PDF]
Nine new cembranoids 1–9 containing an α–methylene–γ–butyrolactone together with the known diterpenes 10–15 have been isolated from a crude extract of Eunicea sp. and their structures were established by spectroscopic methods. The proliferative effect of

Characterization of Cembranoid Interaction with the Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor
The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1998The class of diterpenoids with a 14-carbon cembrane ring, the cembranoids, includes both competitive and noncompetitive inhibitors of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR). All 20 coelenterate-derived cembranoids studied in this report inhibited [piperidyl-3,4-3H]-phencyclidine ([3H]-PCP) binding to its high-affinity site on the electric organ ...

Cembranoids from the Octocoral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi
Journal of Natural Products, 2010Chemical investigation of the octocoral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi led to the isolation of six new cembranoids, (+)-12-carboxy-11Z-sarcophytoxide (1), (+)-12-methoxycarbonyl-11Z-sarcophine (3), ehrenberoxides A-C (4-6), and lobophynin C (2), along with two known compounds, (+)-sarcophytoxide (7) and (+)-sarcophine (8).

Cyclized Cembranoids of Natural Occurrence
1992The structure of eunicillin (89), a carbobicyclic diterpenoid isolated from the Mediterranean gorgonian Eunicella stricta, was reported in 1968 (1). At that time chlorine-containing diterpenoids had been discovered in the gorgonian Briareum asbestinum (2, 3), but it was not until 1977 that the structure of the first briaran, briarein A (211), was ...
