Oxygenated Cembranoids from the Soft Coral Sinularia flexibilis [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2013
Chemical examination of the Taiwanese soft coral Sinularia flexibilis led to the isolation of five cembrane-based diterpenoids 1–5, including two new metabolites, 11-acetylsinuflexolide (1) and 11-acetyldihydrosinuflexolide (2). The structures of the new metabolites were determined based on extensive spectroscopic analysis, particularly mass ...

Cytotoxic and Antibacterial Cembranoids from a South China Sea Soft Coral, Lobophytum sp.

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2013
Chemical examination of a South China Sea soft coral Lobophytum sp. led to the isolation of three new α-methylene-γ-lactone-containing cembranoids, (1R*,3R*, 4R*,14R*,7E,11E)-3,4-epoxycembra-7,11,15(17)-trien-16,14-olide (1), (1R*,7S*,14S*,3E, 11E)-7 ...

Suppression of Migration and Invasion by 4-Carbomethoxyl-10-Epigyrosanoldie E from the Cultured Soft Coral Sinularia sandensis through the MAPKs Pathway on Oral Cancer Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Pharmacol Pharm Sci
The primary reason for cancer‐related fatalities is metastasis. The compound 4‐carbomethoxyl‐10‐epigyrosanoldie E, derived from the Sinularia sandensis soft coral species grown in cultures, exhibits properties that counteract inflammation. Moreover, it has been observed to trigger both apoptosis and autophagy within cancerous cells.

Biocatalytic and antimetastatic studies of the marine cembranoids sarcophine and 2-epi-16-deoxysarcophine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The soft coral Sarcophyton glaucum is a rich resource of several bioactive cembranoids. Sarcophytol A (1) and sarcophine (2) are cembranoid diterpenes reported from this soft coral and extensively investigated for their cancer chemopreventive properties.

Biscembranoids and Cembranoids from the Soft Coral Sarcophyton elegans [PDF]

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2017
Two novel biscembranoids, sarelengans A and B (1 and 2), five new cembranoids, sarelengans C–G (3–7), along with two known cembranoids (8 and 9) were isolated from the South China Sea soft coral Sarcophyton elegans. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods, and those of 1, 4, 5, and 6 were confirmed by single crystal X-ray

Modifications of Prenyl Side Chains in Natural Product Biosynthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 52, December 20, 2024.
This review summarizes the unique modifications of prenyl side chains involved in natural product biosynthesis, including epoxidation, dehydrogenation, oxidation of methyl groups to carboxyl groups, C−C bond cleavage and oxidative cyclization. Abstract In recent years, there has been a growing interest in understanding the enzymatic machinery ...
