Staging concept for aging management: Definition, mechanism, and coping strategies

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
We divided the overall aging stage into “pre‐aging”, “aging compensation”, and “aging disability”. For each stage, we delineate the clinical presentations, biological phenomena, theoretical underpinnings, and key management priorities. Abstract Aging, as a gradual and largely irreversible biological process, characterized by declining organismal ...

Neuropathology in a diverse cohort of oldest‐old: The LifeAfter90 study

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Studies of the oldest‐old show great neuropathologic heterogeneity; little is known in diverse populations after age 90. METHODS LifeAfter90 is a lifecourse cohort study of individuals aged ≥ 90 years evaluated every 6 months with optional brain donation; this study presents initial neuropathological findings.

Neuropathology of the centenarian brains

open access: yesAlzheimer Disease & Associated Disorders, 1985

Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster as Model Organisms in Biofactor Research

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 52, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
This review presents Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster as powerful and ethically sound invertebrate model organisms that can be used to investigate nutritional science questions relating to biofactors. Such nutritional phenotyping studies can bridge the gap between in vitro studies and in vivo research in mammals.

Endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in a centenarian

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2020
As the general population ages, there will be an increasing number of vascular patients in their 90s and older. However, geriatric patients have historically been turned down for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair despite high aneurysm-related mortality in

Inflammaging: Experimental Insights and Translational Advances

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 7, July 2026.
Inflammaging is a chronic, low‐grade, sterile inflammation associated with aging that contributes to age‐related diseases and functional decline. Recent research suggests that targeting inflammaging through senolytics, metabolic modulators, microbiome‐based interventions, and lifestyle modifications may help improve healthspan, reduce chronic disease ...

Cellular Senescence and Aging: Mechanisms, Disease Convergence, and Therapeutic Frontiers

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
This schematic illustrates the hierarchical and interconnected nature of the primary molecular hallmarks of aging. The progression of aging is driven by a convergence of intrinsic molecular insults. Within the nucleus, genomic instability and telomere attrition trigger persistent DDR, accompanied by extensive epigenetic alterations.

New estimates of Australia’s centenarian population

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science, 2018
Introduction: The population of Australia at the very highest ages is growing rapidly, like that of many countries. But official population estimates at these ages are of lower quality than those at younger ages, a problem shared by many countries which ...
