Oxygen consumption of the scorpion centruroides sculpturatus
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1969Abstract 1. 1. Rhythmic fluctuations in oxygen consumption and the effects of sex, body size, age and temperature on respiratory rates were investigated for the scorpion, Centruroides sculpturatus . 2. 2. A nocturnal rhythm in oxygen consumption was not observed except for an initial increase in response to the change from light to dark. 3.

Incidence of Immediate and Delayed Hypersensitivity to Centruroides Antivenom
Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1999To assess the incidence and course of immediate and delayed hypersensitivity to Centruroides antivenom. We performed a 12-month prospective observation study, with telephone follow-up, evaluating the incidence of anaphylaxis or anaphylactoid reactions and serum sickness after Centruroides antivenom administration.

The Genus Centruroides (Buthidae) and Its Venom [PDF]
In North America scorpions of medical importance belong to the genus Centruroides Marx (1889) of the family Buthidae (Simon, 1879) and the superfamily Buthoidea (Birula, 1917). The name Centururus is a synonym for Centruroides but the latter is correct as explained by Pocock (1920f), who is also quoted by Stahnke (1971).

Effects of Insecticides on the Scorpion Centruroides vittatus1
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1962The scorpion Centruroides vittatus (Say) was exposed to various insecticides in the laboratory. Chlordane, at 76 milligrams per square foot, gave 100% kill to 2 to 24 hours. Doubling these rates three times did not greatly reduce the exposure time required to give 100% kill. Malathion was ineffective at 11, 21, and 43 milligrams per square foot.

What's eating you? bark scorpions (Centruroides exilicauda and Centruroides sculpturatus).
Cutis, 2021Centruroides is a common genus of bark scorpions in the United States with at least 21 species considered to be medically important, including the closely related Centruroides exilicauda and Centruroides sculpturatus. Stings from C exilicauda and C sculpturatus have been shown to cause fatality in children more often than in adults.
